After the Vikings’ season came to an end with a playoff loss to the Seahawks, coach Mike Zimmer said that defensive end Everson Griffen might have shoulder surgery this offseason.

Griffen never missed a game because of the injury, but was on the injury report because of it over the final weeks of the season. It didn’t keep him from taking part in the Pro Bowl, however, and Zimmer updated Griffen’s status on Thursday.

He said that Griffen was likely dealing with a torn labrum, but that doctors don’t believe he needs an operation to correct the problem.

“He’s going to continue to rehab and I don’t know the exact date he’s going back,” Zimmer said, via the Minneapolis Star Tribune. “Unless [something has] changed, he’s not going to have anything.”

Barring a change in that outlook, Griffen should be good to go for camp and the start of next season where the Vikings will be looking for more of the same production that’s led to 22.5 sacks over the last two years.
