NFL Scouting Combine experiences a wardrobe malfunction

The term “wardrobe malfunction” entered the vernacular at halftime of the Super Bowl in 2004, but now the 2016 Scouting Combine has made Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake look G-rated.

While Mississippi State defensive lineman Chris Jones was running the 40-yard dash, his shorts left him exposed. Live, on NFL Network.

Jones tried to both finish the 40 and cover himself up, and that led to him falling face-first at the finish line. NFL Network’s microphones captured him explaining, in colorful language, exactly what happened. If you want to see it, other sites have posted the video. If you seek it out, keep in mind that viewer discretion is advised.

Rich Eisen made a wisecrack about the situation on the air, but Mike Mayock’s comments immediately before Jones’ wardrobe malfunction more or less summed it up: “Very surprised Chris Jones came out.”

Mayock meant he was surprised Jones left school with a year of NCAA eligibility remaining, but his words presaged what we’d all be thinking when Jones finished his 40, five seconds later.
