Seahawks agree to terms on three-year deal with Ahtyba Rubin

The Seattle Seahawks have reached a three-year deal with defensive tackle Ahtyba Rubin.

The deal was first reported by Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports. A source confirmed an agreement had been reached to PFT Monday night.

Rubin started all 16 games for Seattle last season after signing a one-year deal with the team last March. He recorded 36 tackles and two sacks last season and had an interception as well.

Rubin was one of Seattle’s highest priority free agents. With fellow defensive tackle Brandon Mebane also set to become an unrestricted free agent this week, finding a way to keep at least one of them under contract was an important step. Rubin, 29, is younger than Mebane, 31, and arguably had a better season as well.

The deal with Rubin keeps Seattle from having to replace both starting defensive tackles through free agency and/or the draft.
