The Dolphins signed another veteran lineman, but this one is more of a depth signing.
According to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins have signed former Bears tackle Jermon Bushrod to a one-year deal.
The 31-year-old Bushrod will come in as cover for oft-injured left tackle Branden Albert and right tackle Ja’Wuan James, but the Dolphins may give him a shot to start at guard as well.
If he’s over the shoulder injury that limited him last year, there’s a decent chance he could overtake Dallas Thomas or Billy Turner for a guard job. If not, he’s at least a very good insurance policy.
Bushrod has 96 career starts, though he’s fallen off since his days with the Saints.
