When the Colts signed defensive lineman Arthur Jones before the 2014 season, the hope was that he’d build on the strong showings he had in Baltimore and become a leader on defense in Indianapolis.

Things haven’t worked out that way. Jones missed seven games his first season and all of last season because of ankle injuries, leaving him with 23 tackles, 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble to show for his first two years with the Colts.

Jones will be back in 2016 in hopes of providing better results, but he’ll reportedly be doing it at a lower salary. Field Yates of ESPN reports that Jones agreed to cut his base pay from $4.5 million to $2.5 million. If Jones is able to remain healthy and productive, he can make the $2 million back through incentives and roster bonuses.

Linebacker Trent Cole also took a pay cut recently and the Colts have spent some of their coin on new contracts for kicker Adam Vinatieri and tight end Dwayne Allen.
