The Patriots signed Chris Hogan last week, giving them another receiver who has made his living out of the slot during his NFL career.

On Monday, they met with a wideout who has done most of his work on the outside of the formation. According to multiple reports, Nate Washington was in New England to meet with the team.

Washington played for the Texans last season and caught 47 passes for 658 yards and four touchdowns for the AFC South champs. He spent the previous six seasons with the Titans, where he was also a starter and generally produced at a similar rate that he did in 2015. The biggest exception was in 2011 when Washington set career highs with 74 catches, 1,023 yards and seven touchdowns.

The Patriots added a receiver from Houston last season when they traded for Keshawn Martin. Doing so this year with Washington would bring a different look to a receiving corps that could stand a little more variety.
