The Patriots have long been a home for wayward veterans, and it appears they’re taking a look at another one today.
Via the Boston Herald, former No. 2 overall pick Chris Long is visiting the Patriots today.
Long has already scheduled or made visits with Washington, the Falcons and Cowboys.
The soon-to-be-31-year-old Long was released by the Rams after two injury plagued seasons. New England doesn’t seem to be in desperate need at the position, with Chandler Jones, Rob Ninkovich and Jabaal Sheard at defensive end along with a pair of 2015 draft picks (third-rounder Geneo Grissom and fourth-rounder Trey Flowers.
But all three of those veterans are entering the final year of their contracts, so they may be looking for depth for the next few years.
