Running back Christine Michael will have a chance to be part of the post-Marshawn Lynch backfield in Seattle.

The Seahawks didn’t tender Michael as a restricted free agent earlier this month, but he won’t be heading elsewhere for the 2016 season. The team announced Thursday that they have re-signed Michael. Terms weren’t announced, but Michael is likely set to make less than the $1.671 million he would have made under the lowest-level tender.

Michael was a 2013 second-round pick of the Seahawks and played 14 games for them in his first two seasons before being released before the start of the 2015 season. He caught on with the Cowboys, but was eventually waived in favor of former Seahawks teammate Robert Turbin.

He spent a spell on the Redskins practice squad before heading back to the Seahawks with Lynch and Thomas Rawls sidelined by injuries. He ran 39 times for 192 yards in three games down the stretch.
