Jim Irsay, Peyton Manning to hold joint press conference on Friday

AP

The band is getting back together again. Sort of.

More than four years after Colts owner Jim Irsay and quarterback Peyton Manning bade each other farewell at a joint press conference in Indianapolis, they’re reuniting for a joint press conference on Friday.

The topic of the press conference is specifically unknown. The far safest guess is that the Colts will announce plans to retire Manning’s number and place him in the team’s Ring of Honor.

As to speculation that he’ll be “retiring as a Colt,” he already has officially retired as a Broncos, via placement on the team’s reserve/retired list.

Manning, the first overall pick in 1998, started every game for the Colts through 2010. He missed all of 2011 due to neck surgeries, and he was released in March 2012.

  1. After the press conference jimmy will unveil the Peyton Manning Career Participant Banner

  2. Probably going to let him start one game next season so that he can get that last meaningless regular season record that Favre has.

  3. Whatever accolades he gets, Peyton has earned and deserves them. Doubt it is some front office job ala Marino…

  4. With these two guys on the same stage together, somebody ought to tip off the DEA.

  5. They’re gonna hang his forehead from the rafters with the number 18 on it. Yeah. That’s the ticket.

So delightful to see the same sad pathetic Pats trolls (hi nhpats) spew their hateful bile on ever PM thread————————————————-WWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH,WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  7. My sources tell me Irsay’s going to give Manning part ownership in the Colts in return for the 183 Papa John franchises that Peyton has scattered across American and in two cities in Japan.

Additionally, I’m told that Archie Manning will join hands with Irsay and Peyton, and they will all three dance a jig while singing the Nationwide Insurance anthem with bagpipe music being played live by the Dublin Pipers.

On the sideline, Eli will sell jerseys and old footballs from the Giants’ locker room, as well as a used pair of cleats once owned by Tiki Barber.

On the other sideline, Cooper Manning will sit in a high chair with a diaper on his head filming something very funny for one of the sports network show.

After the ceremony, Irsay will mingle in the crowd and hand out $87,000 worth of $100 bills that he carried in his suit pockets.

A good time will be had by all.

And now he’s returning to the Colts to retire as an HGH-addled, pervert.

  9. They are going into partnership on a Walgreen’s with a drive through. Nobody should struggle like they did and the convenience of having a drive thru is their version of playing it forward.

  10. Am guessing that Papa Jim and Papa Peyton will team up with Papa John and have a pizza party at the dome. Unfortunately Papa Murphy is not invited

  11. Rumors have Peyton looking at real estate in West Hartford, a town close to ESPN Bristol headquarters. Looks like Peyton is still going to be very much a part of Sundays next fall.

  12. It is time for football without Peyton Manning getting some kind of headlines. I actually was made aware of how Peyton during the downtimes in a season or a.year, how Peyton would show up at Tennessee and help with their football team. This could be a positive if he leaves out some areas that the students do not need!! ( mooning strategy )

  13. It’s amazing how how pats fans fill every Manning related article with hate and meaningless dribble. He beat Brady 3 of 4 times when it mattered. He owns all the records. Brady will never have 5 MVP awards. Get over yourselves and let Brady bask in the glow of second fiddle……or first loser.

  14. As a complete outsider to the entire situation (fan of team not involved), the level of hate Patriots fans carry for Manning is truly perplexing. I mean, if nothing else, should not the fans of a known cheating P.O.S. QB actually be SYMPATHETIC to a the fans of a QB who has been accused of his own malfeasance? Accused being the operating word here. Strange indeed
