The band is getting back together again. Sort of.

More than four years after Colts owner Jim Irsay and quarterback Peyton Manning bade each other farewell at a joint press conference in Indianapolis, they’re reuniting for a joint press conference on Friday.

The topic of the press conference is specifically unknown. The far safest guess is that the Colts will announce plans to retire Manning’s number and place him in the team’s Ring of Honor.

As to speculation that he’ll be “retiring as a Colt,” he already has officially retired as a Broncos, via placement on the team’s reserve/retired list.

Manning, the first overall pick in 1998, started every game for the Colts through 2010. He missed all of 2011 due to neck surgeries, and he was released in March 2012.
