Zane Beadles agrees to three-year deal with the 49ers

Zane Beadles found a soft place to land after being cut by the Jaguars, even if it doesn’t match his previous payday.

According to Adam Caplan of ESPN, the veteran guard has agreed to a three-year deal with the 49ers which is worth $11.75 million.

Beadles was just two years into his five-year, $30 million contract with the Jaguars when they cut him earlier this month, yet another cautionary tale about teams making early splashes in free agency.

He started all 32 games with the Jaguars, but didn’t earn the kind of acclaim he did previously with the Broncos.

He’ll replace departed guard Alex Boone, who left the Bay Area for Minnesota.

  1. Zane Beadles. Ha. Another player over hyped by the press and media. I never saw what the ” experts” saw in him. No big deal. If people thought he was bad for the Jags? LOL wait, he will be epic bad for the 9ers. Chip has a way of developing that in players.

  2. Nowhere to go but up from last season. Better then what we had on the right side of the line.

However I don’t know how far “up” we’ll go with Trent & Jed leading the way…

  3. He excelled in a zone blocking scheme in Denver. He also dealt with foot problems last year. Maybe he gets healthy and excels in Chip’s system. If nothing else he adds some depth. Now if you’ll excuse me, my friends Jameson, Bailey, and Guinness are calling

  4. Chip seems to be learning. He was only 3-4 guards away from keeping his job last year in Philly (or maybe not…)
