The Bears traded a tight end away last week when they sent Martellus Bennett to the Patriots, which left them with an open spot on the depth chart after re-signing Zach Miller.

One option to fill that role could be Saints restricted free agent Josh Hill. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Hill visited the Bears on Monday.

Hill got some buzz heading into last season after the Saints traded Jimmy Graham, but Benjamin Watson became the lead receiving option at the position in the regular season. Hill played all 16 games, starting seven times, and caught 16 passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns while playing a complementary role to Watson.

He was tendered at the lowest level, which means the Saints could match an offer from the Bears but wouldn’t be due any compensation. Hill, who also visited the Jets last week, signed with New Orleans as an undrafted free agent when Bears General Manager Ryan Pace was a member of the Saints’ front office.
