When Dolphins center Mike Pouncey dropped out of the Pro Bowl, he cited recent surgery as the reason why he would miss the game without giving any details about what kind of surgery he had.

Pouncey has now revealed the operation that kept him from playing in the postseason All-Star game. Pouncey battled a foot injury during the 2015 season that caused him to miss the final two games of the season, but said Monday that he had hip surgery.

It’s not the first time that Pouncey has needed an operation to fix a hip injury. He missed the start of the 2014 season after having another surgery.

Pouncey said, via Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, this surgery involved shaving down the bone and took place on the opposite hip from the previous surgery. He added that expects to be ready to go for organized team activities later this offseason.
