Dolphins sign Kraig Urbik

When offensive lineman Kraig Urbik’s visit with the Dolphins on Tuesday was reported, the feeling was that he’d agree to a contract with the team before the day was out.

That feeling proved to be the correct one. The Dolphins announced on Tuesday afternoon that Urbik is the newest member of the team.

Urbik joins Jermon Bushrod as new additions to the Dolphins offensive line and both of them are expected to be in the mix for jobs at guard. The Dolphins have Billy Turner, Dallas Thomas and Jamil Douglas back from last year’s team, although their work was widely seen as falling short of the level needed for a successful offense in Miami.

Urbik entered the NFL as a third-round pick of the Steelers in 2009 and joined the Bills on waivers the next year. He started 57 games and saw time at both guard and tackle during his six years in Buffalo.

Wish we still has their starter and Pro Bowler Mr. Richie Incognito.

Yah you can thank J Mart for that one. Would love to have Richie back – but he obviously feels like he owes the Bills bigtime for taking a chance on him.

  2. Very definition of average. One game looks like complete trash then the next week he would look like a superstar. Solid role player and versatile back up but it’s not good if you need him full time as starter.:: unless the player he is replacing is that bad then yikes.

Not a home run signing but is better then the worst o lineman on your roster

  3. Don’t get too excited this guy is just a slight upgrade to Billy Turner he plays right guard….but evidently he is also versatile which I like. He definitely more experienced but is not really a whole lot more talented. He will miss blocks. He would be a huge upgrade over Dallas Thomas. However remember this guy was a backup not a starter. I like this pickup however….if this guy can prove himself solid he might replace Turner as a starter…..I believe Dallas Thomas is a goner regardless

    .
2 pro bowl guards in the last 3 years. Him and Pouncey.

  5. I always liked Urbik, a good utility guy, but Whaley had him near league minimum, loves versatility, and still let him walk. I got to think he’s near the end.

  6. You will like Urbik filled in for Miller and did a decent job. Not sure about LG but decent RG. He will make the team and may even start. Problem was people were comparing his play to the other guard, Incognito who had probably the best year out of most guards in the NFL. So take Urbiks criticism with a grain of salt.
