The Dolphins signed Jermon Bushrod earlier this offseason with the intent of having him compete for a starting job at guard this year and it appears they’re planning to add at least one more veteran to the mix.
Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins will have former Bills lineman Kraig Urbik in for a visit on Tuesday. Per the report, the team is expected to sign Urbik if all goes well during the visit and physical that Urbik is scheduled to take while in Miami.
Urbik was released by the Bills early in the offseason after spending the last six years with the team. He played in every game over the last three years, but moved from a full-time starting role in 2013 to making 13 starts during the last two years.
Jackson reports that Urbik, who has played both guard and tackle, is viewed as a “depth signing,” although, like Bushrod, he’ll have a chance to show the team he should be a starter. Billy Turner, Dallas Thomas and Jamil Douglas return for the Dolphins after providing underwhelming guard play in 2015.
