The Ravens expect to have linebacker Terrell Suggs back in the lineup after last year’s torn Achilles and his return would restore an effective pass-rushing tandem with Elvis Dumervil.
Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti is looking forward to Suggs’ return, but he doesn’t think that will satisfy all the team’s needs on the pass rushing front. Bisciotti notes that both Suggs and Dumervil are closing in on the end of their careers and says the team needs to bring in more players to complement them now before possibly replacing them down the line.
“We have two very dynamic, productive players that are at the age where you don’t know if you’re going to get one year or three years left in them,” Bisciotti said, via the team’s website. “We have to fill those spots with constant pressure. You need five pass rushers in the rotation.”
The Ravens are well positioned to pick up one of the extra pass rushers Bisciotti wants in the draft. The sixth pick could bring Ohio State’s Joey Bosa or Oregon’s DeForest Buckner, either of whom would give the Ravens a deeper crop of pass rushers to throw at opposing offenses come September.
