Don’t expect an Arian Foster signing on Tuesday

Mike Florio says Arian Foster's initial visit with the Dolphins is likely a meet-and-greet, where Miami is doing their due diligence and exploring all of their options.

Running back Arian Foster is indeed visiting the Dolphins on Tuesday. It would be a major surprise if he signs a contract then.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the goal of the visit is for the Dolphins to see where Foster currently is physically, as he recovers from a torn Achilles tendon suffered during the 2015 season. The Dolphins also want to get to know him with the kind of slow pace that isn’t conducive when it comes to the guys who are signed right out of the gates in free agency.

Foster likewise is in no rush to agree to terms. He expects to be back to 100 percent in the summer, which means he’d have a hard time passing a physical in the near future.

The Dolphins have been searching for a complement to Jay Ajayi, a fifth-round pick in 2015 who currently is the best option on the roster. That could change via free agency, a trade, or the draft.
