USC safety/linebacker Su’a Cravens won’t be submitting to private workouts with teams. But he will be making pre-draft visits to various NFL cities.
Appearing on Wednesday’s PFT Live on NBC Sports Radio and NBCSN, Cravens said he has six visits lined up, and another eight pending requests.
Cravens said he’ll visit the Saints, Lions, Raiders, Dolphins, and Bills. (He couldn’t recall the sixth one; I’m told it’s the Colts.)
Most envision Cravens as a safety at the NFL level. Cravens compared himself to Deone Bucannon of the Cardinals, who was drafted as a safety but is now a “moneybacker” in Arizona.
The versatility can be very useful, especially as defenses try to confuse opposing quarterbacks and likewise adjust to offensive substitutions or efforts to exploit the versatility of skill-position players.
