Stevan Ridley says he’s joining the Lions

The Lions have added someone who can help bring some of the Patriots culture, as new General Manager Bob Quinn brought in a running back who ought to be able to help on several fronts.

Though we’re looking at everything today with suspicion, Ridley just tweeted out a heartfelt message saying goodbye to the Jets and looking forward to his next stop.

“I can’t be happier for another shot to tote this pill and showcase the gifts I’ve been truly blessed with!” Ridley wrote. “Detroit, I’ve got a suprise [sic] for you this year, I promise.”

A running game would be a surprise, as the Lions offense is in desperate need of some balance.

Ridley visited the Lions this week, and Quinn knows him well from the four years they were together in New England. That was when Ridley was healthy and productive, as he didn’t appear to be recovered from his torn ACL last year. With Joique Bell gone, the Lions needed some help, and if Ridley can return to firm, he could provide it.

  1. From the Patriots to the Jets to the Lions. Does he hate winning?

  2. Lions have Abdullah, Riddick, Winn, and the great Zach Zenner.

Ridley is only a training camp body.

What a knee slapper that was.

Yet spot on accurate. Ridley if fully recovered will help the Lions.

  4. Lions fans, nevermind the fumbles and the lack of production last year. Ridley runs hard and brings a great attitude. You’re gonna like what this guy can do.

  5. He has to well motivated after last year. As long as it’s a prove it deal it’s a worthwhile roll of the dice.

  6. Lions have Abdullah (a guy who fumbles every other play), Riddick(not an every down back), Winn(who is this guy?), and the great Zach Zenner(the next wes welker concussion wise, he’s waaaaaaay too small to play RB in the NFL.) They need all the help they can get at RB.

    LoLions!!!

  7. Minor contractual commitment with possible upside and no downside.

Meanwhile, the dullard troll rlpftt continues to show it knows absolutely nothing. Zach Zenner is listed at 5’11”, 220, hardly small for an NFL RB.

  8. rlpftt…a guy who fumbles every other sentence.
Zenner will likely never be anyone big in the NFL but “waaaaay too small”, do you check any facts? 5’11” and 222 lbs. A real midget for running back, yeah.

  9. Putting on the Blue should help him return to firm. Works for me every time.

  10. He can run with the ball. He also tends to run with the ball spinning on the ground. Big time fumbler. The thing i remember most about him is the year after he leaves the Patriots he get a huge Jets tattoo. I wonder if he got that lasered off yet. Haha.

First of all any NFL player, even a 350 lb lineman, can “run with the ball.”

Abdullah and Ridley combined will set records for most fumbles in a single season by any team in the history of the NFL. That achievement can go right next to the 0-16 Lions season hall of shame trophy!

  12. Fumbles aside, Ridley is a damned good RB. I wish he held onto the ball more in NE. The dude can play.

  13. Not a 3 down RB regardless of the GM knowing him. He should know that at least. If this guys getting 20-23 carries a game then the lions are very good. But he will get 8-10 and 4-6 targets. They need a true #1 RB and have t had one in 17 years. Should draft Henry and just give him the rock 25 times a game. This boy looks like he may be hard to bring down with one guy and can lean forward with his strength for 2 more yards each time he leans is tackled. And the lions select with the 14th pick Derrick Henry. No brainier. Then maybe it will open up Ebron that wasted pick last year. Wow they need that guy to produce without megaton gone. They have pieces with adding Henry and having Abdullah and Ridley now until Stafford announces he is retiring after this season. It must be in the _ _ _ _ _.

You forgot full swing decline though

  15. I’m sure he found out “Patriots culture” means “fumble and you’re benched”.

No I didn’t forget it, it’s already happened and Hyzers….You’re mad because I was right and your team is in complete rebuild mode. You should open another account to try and hide your shame.

How ’bout those Spartans getting dominated in the tournament must have been watching the Lions the past three years…hahahaha!

All you did was boast about how great your team was the past three years and they failed miserably while you scapegoated and ragged on how bad the Bears were during their rebuild and to top it all off you were convinced I was a Bears fan.

    LoLions!!!

  17. The Lions don’t have any RB’s they need this guy more than you know. What a disgusting franchise, what a shame. Vikings own the Lions.
