Stevan Ridley says he’s joining the Lions

Ridley

The Lions have added someone who can help bring some of the Patriots culture, as new General Manager Bob Quinn brought in a running back who ought to be able to help on several fronts.

Though we’re looking at everything today with suspicion, Ridley just tweeted out a heartfelt message saying goodbye to the Jets and looking forward to his next stop.

“I can’t be happier for another shot to tote this pill and showcase the gifts I’ve been truly blessed with!” Ridley wrote. “Detroit, I’ve got a suprise [sic] for you this year, I promise.”

A running game would be a surprise, as the Lions offense is in desperate need of some balance.

Ridley visited the Lions this week, and Quinn knows him well from the four years they were together in New England. That was when Ridley was healthy and productive, as he didn’t appear to be recovered from his torn ACL last year. With Joique Bell gone, the Lions needed some help, and if Ridley can return to firm, he could provide it.
