Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch held his pro day workout on Wednesday, which allowed him to show off his on-field skills to a big group of teams.
Now that the workout is done, he’ll get back to meeting privately with teams that may be interested in drafting him later this month. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Lynch will head to Dallas for a previously reported meeting with the Cowboys and then move on to visit with the Chargers.
We haven’t heard much about interest in quarterbacks out of San Diego this offseason, but there was some talk about a possible move up the draft board to pick Marcus Mariota when Philip Rivers’ future with the team was uncertain a year ago. Rivers wound up signing an extension in August that ties him to the Chargers through 2019, but the team may have their eye on grooming an heir and Lynch could fit given his profile as a player that needs polish before he’ll be ready to play in the NFL.
The Chargers pick third overall, which is higher than most people anticipate Lynch coming off the board, and fourth in the second round, so getting him would likely require a move back into the first round if, as expected, they go in a different direction at the top of the draft.
The Bills, Eagles, Chiefs and Browns have also spent time with Lynch recently.
