Thanks to the Titans’ ongoing ownership mess, sparked by estate planning that failed to clearly transfer control to one person and one person only, the NFL (as PFT has reported) has now required all teams to submit for approval to the league office proposed succession plans.
One specific succession plan has been leaked.
Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that Bruce Beal Jr. has the first option to purchase the team if current owner Stephen Ross dies or decides to sell. The league’s owners approved the arrangement last month at the NFL annual meetings.
The situation has been described to La Canfora as “responsible succession planning.” The reality is that it was mandatory succession planning, a direct product of the issues arising from the lack of a clear owner in Tennessee.
