The Patriots announced Friday that they’ve released defensive linemen Chris Jones and Ishmaa’ily Kitchen.
Jones, who was due to make $1.67 million in 2016, missed all of last season due to injury.
A sixth-round pick of the Texans in 2013, Jones was cut and was briefly with the Buccaneers before being claimed by the Patriots and starting 23 games at defensive end in 2013-14.
Kitchen was signed by the Patriots last December. He started last season with the Browns and also played for the Lions before landing in New England. A nose tackle, Kitchen played three seasons with the Browns after initially signing with the Ravens as undrafted free agent in 2012.
Jones is subject to waivers. Kitchen’s contract was terminated and he becomes a free agent.
The Patriots also cut defensive lineman Dominique Easley earlier this week.
