The last time we mentioned wide receiver Robert Meachem on these pages was when he worked out for the Lions in June 2015 in an unsuccessful bid to earn a contract in Detroit.

As the silence around his name suggests, Meachem didn’t catch on anywhere last season. That hasn’t stopped him from trying to continue his playing career, however.

Nick Underhill of the New Orleans Advocate reports that Meachem will work out for the Saints on Friday. There’s plenty of familiarity with Meachem in New Orleans as he played for the Saints from 2007-2011 and again in 2013 and 2014. He had 164 catches for 2,707 yards and 25 touchdowns during that stint and was part of the Saints’ Super Bowl champs in 2009.

Only 23 of those catches came in his second tour with the Saints and Meachem had a dismal 2012 season with the Chargers in between stays with the Saints, so it would be a stretch to expect much from him at this point. Brandin Cooks, Willie Snead and Brandon Coleman are the top returning wideouts in New Orleans.
