Browns change their minds, cut Saalim Hakim after four days

Well, the Browns did take a wide receiver last night, and that was apparently enough to change their minds about another one.

According to the league’s daily personnel notice, the Browns have released veteran wideout Saalim Hakim.

They just signed Hakim Monday, after he had taken part in a weekend minicamp as a tryout player. He has spent time with the Jets, showing some degree of promise as a return man.

But whether the addition of first-round wideout Corey Coleman had anything to do with the decision to release Hakim or not, they had a sudden change of heart.

  1. This move epitomizes the ineptness of the Browns org from top to bottom. They don’t nor have had anything resembling the barest skeleton of a plan.

  2. His slg % didn’t match up with his OBP so, the MLB guy put him on waivers, and the Harvard geniuses agreed after liability issues were ironed out. What a frickin’ joke.

  3. They cut him so they could draft him in the 3rd round tonight. “It’s a bold strategy Cotton. Let’s see if it pays off for ’em.”

  4. So people are bashing this? Let me try to understand this. Browns had a guy they had in mind at #8. He wasn’t there so instead of reaching they traded down added draft picks and got the top receiver off the board (a major need for them). In return they had to dump a journeymen who prior to that was in a position that the Browns weren’t going to address with a high pick.

What’s the problem with this again?
