Chiefs exercise Eric Fisher option

The Chiefs had decided to wait to make a decision on tackle Eric Fisher until after the draft. The Chiefs have made their decision.

PFT has confirmed that the Chiefs have exercised the fifth-year option. It extends Fisher’s contract through 2017, at a salary of $11.9 million for the fifth season. The amount is guaranteed for injury only until the first day of the next league year, at which time it becomes fully guaranteed. (The news was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.)

Fisher struggled in his first two years, but improved significantly in 2015. The Chiefs expect him to improve even more in 2016. If he does, he won’t be hitting the market next March.
