Dana Stubblefield faces rape allegation

Former NFL defensive lineman Dana Stubblefield faces rape charges in California.

According to Jason Green of Bay Area News Group, the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office formally accused Stubblefield, 45, of raping a “developmentally delayed” female.

“This was a crime of violence against a vulnerable victim,” Deputy District Attorney Tim McInerny said in a statement. “She was looking for a job and she was unconscionably assaulted.”

Stubblefield allegedly contacted the woman through an online service under the guise of looking for a nanny. He allegedly interviewed her on April 9, 2015, she left, and she soon received a text message from Stubblefield indicating he wanted to pay her for her time.

At that point, she allegedly returned to the house, where Stubblefield allegedly picked her up, carried her to a room, and raped her. He then allegedly gave her $80 and let her leave.

The alleged victim went directly to a police station and said she’d been raped by a man named Dana. Stubblefield’s DNA allegedly matched DNA obtained from the victim.

Stubblefield is accused of five felony counts and faces, according to prosecutors, a substantial prison sentence if convicted.

He spent 11 years in the NFL, playing for the 49ers from 1993 through 1997, Washington from 1998 through 2000, the 49ers again in 2001 and 2002, and the Raiders in 2003. A three-time Pro Bowler, Stubblefield was the 1993 NFL defensive rookie of the year and the 1997 NFL defensive player of the year.

  1. What future employer is going to interview you, let you leave and then send a text message saying come back and let me pay you. Pay 4 what an interview. wow

  2. If true, and appears it is with DNA, this is horrific and tragic. Dana will get retribution in prison. Pray for the woman.

  3. Wow. What? Where did that come from? Never heard two cross words about the guy all these years and then this. Jeez.

  4. Concussions. We are about to see the future folks.
We are in the early but inevitable process of watching first hand, living CTE. and how it plays out in the instant media world, be warned the ball is in motion.

  5. Yo niners fans. You live in the past with your championships. Gotta claim stubblefield and stop pawning him off on the raiders

  6. There is something called presumption of innocence in this country. The word ‘allegedly’ appears often in the article for good reason — these are allegations. He could certainly be guilty. She could be a gold-digger who had consensual sex with a formal NFL player with a plan to cash in.

As best I know he was a stand-up guy without even a hint of any sort of prior trouble. If he’s guilty, throw him in jail and throw away the key. But the prosecution has to prove their case in court before that happens.

  7. Don’t remember him ever getting in to trouble. CTE comes to mind… Not that that is an excuse for this type of terrible crime (if he is found guilty of it that is)

  8. Stubbs is more developmentally delayed than anyone he could possibly be accused of raping.

    He is a deadbeat.

2008 pled guilty to lying to feds when he said he never took steroids (BALCO case).

2009 he stopped down from his high school coaching job after accusations by his ex-fiance of repeatedly harassing her during the previous year.

2010 sentenced to 90 days in jail for stealing a former girlfriend’s mail, including her unemployment checks.

Now rape. Yeah, real upstanding guy.

  10. According to TMZ who broke the story

“But instead of an interview, officials say Stubblefield had sex with the woman — despite the fact she was “incapable” of giving consent because of a mental disorder and developmental and physical disabilities. ”
    ——————————————————————-

First I’m not defending him. But as someone without any kids, I question the idea of hiring a person SO developmentally disabled both physically and mentally too take care of children.

  11. With DNA he is in trouble. He says/She says will not go well if she is developmentally disabled.

If true, if he was going to pay for it, doesn’t he know there are people that take money in exchange willingly?

  12. If she cannot consent to sex, how is she possibly going to nanny little kids? I don’t get that. There’s a disconnect there somewhere.

  13. OK,OK look I understand innocent until proven guilty. The story said they HAVE MATCHED HIS DNA!!! As for the gold digger angle she’s developmentally delayed. Seriously doubt she’s trying to get rich. I always liked the man as a player but this, man this is just sick!!! For that 80 bucks I’m sure he could’ve gotten a hooker. Probably be a dirty one but still he wouldn’t have to face a rape charge. Smh

  14. For all of you who’ve already convicted him after reading this story, shame on you. And with that being said, I’m not rushing to the conclusion that he’s innocent. But what I am saying is that haven’t you lived life long enough to understand that wise judgement is judgement that waits until everything is heard?

    Hastiness is a sin.

  15. So how do we know this was not consentual? Maybe Stubblefield didn’t pay her enough…..Something smells and I`m not buying this story right now!!!!

  16. Why do people say lets wait to pass judgment until he has his day in court. The court system is a mess and I will pass judgment as I see fit. The dude is scum and he will get his!

  17. The other problems don’t lead to rape.

Since every one wants to convict him here I’ll just leave this defense: She interviewed and left, figured out who this guy was and returned for a paycheck.

50/50 chance he really did rape her. To many women looking to cash in to just throw the guy under the bus.

  18. Might claim that his actions where a result of abuse he experienced year in and year out playing against Larry Allen.

It was painful watching those games.

    Excuses, excuses….

  20. Nice for the D.A. to put this into the press and then commence the jury selection. Id wait on the trial. I have no clue if what the D.A. is saying is true or false. Sexual assault is terrible.. but we do have a due process system.. perhaps if D.A.’s weren’t elected they’d be more about the process and less about getting their names into the public…

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

While that is a possible scenario, the fact that the alleged victim is developmentally delayed makes it seem a little far fetched. Generally we would associate gold digging with someone that uses cunning and guile, two traits not common among those whose development is stunted.

  22. Sad fact ,ex athletes, for the most part, can’t handle being just another guy. They love you when they need you, just like any occupation.

  23. Ladies & Gentleman, the new and all-time record low, reaching all new depths of scumbaggery never before seen, we give you Dana Stubblefield.

If any truth to this, please proceed to general population, how did this take a year to come out?

The posts defending Stubblefield and blaming the victim are sickening.
    .

Convicting the guy based on a PFT post is sickening.

    None of this adds up.

    ———————————————
The disconnect is between your ears. Where is “consent to sex” in a nanny’s job description?

  26. Every time you hear stuff like this, you have to ask yourself how far humans can go.
To me, rape and child molestation are two of the most heinous crimes there are. If I had my way, anyone convicted of those two crimes would be executed because they don’t deserve to breathe.
Stubblefield will get his day in court and I just hope they treat the victim with the respect she deserves. Unfortunately, we all know they won’t.
If he’s convicted of this crime, there’s nothing they could do to him that would bother me.

  27. How come you don’t have his side?

He said it was consensual and he already passed a lie detector test. She just wants his money he says.

  28. The general public are fools….how can you condemn a man based on what is written in the above article….lets get all the details before you give him the death sentence….what is wrong with you people?

  29. Congrats Dana Stubblefield if this is true you have surpassed Albert Haynesworth as one of the most hated Redskins ever. I feel awful for the young lady who did not deserve this at all!
