Vikings wrap up draft class, sign Laquon Treadwell

Add the Vikings to the list of teams that have signed all of their draft picks.

They signed seven of their eight picks in one fell swoop last week and rounded out the group by getting wide receiver Laquon Treadwell under contract on Thursday. As a first-round pick, Treadwell signed a four-year deal with a team option for a fifth season.

The Vikings made Treadwell the 23rd overall pick of the draft in hopes of adding some potency to their passing game. He set a record at Ole Miss with 202 career receptions and turned them into 2,393 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Treadwell isn’t the fastest receiver in the class, but his precision and hands more than made up for it during his college career. Stefon Diggs is established at one receiver spot and Treadwell should have every opportunity to get the spot across from him with the first team.

  1. The Dynasty (not a Seahawks 1 year wonder dynasty) is forming right in front of your eyes!!!

when we celebrate we use confetti to soak up all of the tears from Packer fans!!!

Greatness at its finest!!!! Embrace it!!!! NOW!!!

  2. Great, now we can watch all of his potential go unfulfilled over the next 4 to 5 years because he has a mediocre QB throwing him the ball.

  3. Treadwell isn’t the fastest receiver in the class but…” he only has to run 10 – 15 yards to reach his new QB’s maximum accurate range anyway.

  4. I wonder who will be leaving now? I am thinking Charles Johnson but it could be one of the slower possession type receivers.

  5. The Packers trolls calling him slow after the draft forgot that he ran just about the same 40 time as Larry Fitgerald, and we saw how much trouble the Packers D had with him.

  6. Can Packers defense catch up with this guy like Fitzgerald? Not. Pretty soon they’re gonna be like but but but he didn’t run well in his 40 dash. Cry Packers cry.

  7. Can Packers defense catch up with this guy like Fitzgerald? Not. Pretty soon they’re gonna be like but but but he didn’t run well in his 40 dash. Cry Packers cry, losers.

  8. Skol! the new turf is looking good! and the future looks bright for the purple! packer fans are praying last year was a fluke, it wasn’t. we’re just getting started.

  9. Minnesota is putting together a nice roster, and Zimmer can coach. I think they’re about a season ahead of Oakland in the rebuilding process.

  10. All the hating aside, I dig what the Vikings, Raiders and Jaguars are doing.

They hit their weaknesses hard, which correlated with a BPA approach as well.

  11. You really don’t need to say the same thing three times cody. It doesn’t make anyone take you any more seriously.

  12. I like this team and what they are building here, eagles fan here.Treadwell should have never fallen and bridgewater will continue to grow as his weapons do ,love Zimmer

  13. I find it mildly amusing that the majority of the Viking fans posting here are mentioning the Packers, its like they live rent free in your head.

I have no idea of whether Treadwell will be decent, very good, All Pro or Canton bound and the truth of the matter is, neither does anybody else. Troy Williamson was highly regarded being picked at #7 overall and look what happened to him. He was fast and I remember him getting wide open on a number of occasions. Treadwell might do the same, what should have any Viking fan worried is if the QB can get him the ball? With in 5 yards of the line of scrimmage, maybe, more than 10 years downfield it gets real ugly, real quick.

  14. #11 is a great number to have Treads! This young man has skills and he will be an impact on the other side of Diggs. Excellent draft selection by “Slick Rick”!
    What did Ted get?

ESPN found that Treadwell had the fastest 0-10 time of any of the wide receivers they tested. Isn’t that really how you get open?
    ————-
No they didn’t. And it is how you get open if you are a possession WR who is not a vertical threat. Perfect for Teddy Checkdown though.

  16. This years Draft is hammering the final nails in Green Bays Coffin.
Better get used to sniffing purple underwear from behind for the next 8-10 years!

  17. remember how noodle arm teddy beat the pack in lambeau in January for the division crown. I’d be nervous too if I were a pack fan

  18. I love how ignorant of Football facts Green Bay is.

    2015 Yards/Attempt
    Bridgewater – 7.72
    Rodgers -6.68

    Completion %
    Bridgewater – 65.3
    Rodgers – 60.3

So he has a higher Yards per Attempt and higher Completion Percentage.

Yet the “Teddy Checkdown” comments keep coming. I guess that means they must have “Aaron Bubble Screen” at the helm. The guy who couldn’t close-out the division at home the last week of the season.

Packer fans remember that 15-1 dynasty? How did that end? Maybe a Khuuuuuun fumble? Class dismissed!

Does Ariani remember that Viking 15-1 dynasty? How did that end? Maybe a Gary Anderson Wide Left? That’s becoming a habit in Minnesota.

    ………..
He’s a wide receiver not a kicker, stupid.

  23. Great Pick. Great Signing. Many Thanks to the classy fans of other teams who gave their well wishes and remarks. It not only shows you know football, but also do not let your emotions get in the way of obvious good moves by other teams. This is going to be a really great year for the Vikings and I for one, can’t wait to get this season started!! Safety to all!! GO VIKINGS, SKOL!!!

The true disgrace is you trying to use my username by changing one digit to make yourself look stupid. Let me ask you. How many ROYs have the Vikings drafted compared to your Packers?

At least when the Vikings went 15-1 they won a playoff game. If I recall correctly the year GB went 15-1 they lost their first playoff game.

Nope. Having a young team, that was predicted to win 7 games last year, that’s ahead of schedule, and has a deep roster that’s loaded with talent is where dynasties are born. It’s just a bonus that the perennial pretenders next door have started their inevitable decline ahead of schedule as well.

Are you kidding me? The name that they chose as an identity refers to the Vikings. Talk about being in someone’s head!

  32. Exactly mikeinminny! They are the ones that troll our sites constantly and have to be the first to post ALL the time, THEY can’t stop thinking about us!!! Sad really, don’t you think? Their team has become so insignificant.

Wrong. Not one Viking fan believes that winning a division championship is a dynasty. Not one! Although the way some 0of you trolls act by coming into the Viking threads you would think the Vikings have been a dynasty for decades. You just can’t stay away and have to spew idiotic rhetoric from your keyboards.

  34. Oh yes, for the name callers: (Treadwhile) The Packers sink!
This guy is going to do to you what Jennings did to us for all those years.

It looks like the Packers young receivers are duds,
Must be from Rodgers throwing them under the bus
last year, and now that Nelson is damaged and will never be the same
Eddie Lazy better be in shape.

I buy that. Vikes-Oak went at it in Oakland last year and Minnesota was better. Nearly EVERY GAME was a dogfight for the Vikings last year. When they played a team *just off* that notch it wasn’t close (Oak, NYG). Carr is a gamer. Like.

Rodgers is a better play maker than Bridgewater but Minnesota has a clear advantage in the run game and defense. Rodgers doesn’t like close games. Bridgewater has been nails in them.
