Former Oregon quarterback Vernon Adams didn’t make the cut when he tried out in Seattle, but he’s getting another chance.

Adams will try out at this weekend’s rookie minicamp in Washington.

Although Adams had a productive college career (first at Eastern Washington before transferring to Oregon for his final season), NFL scouts were dubious about his size and his ability to translate his skills to a pro-style offense. It wasn’t a big surprise that he went undrafted, but it is a bit surprising that he so far hasn’t been able to catch on anywhere as an undrafted free agent.

In Washington he joins a large pool of rookie tryout players, with 33 of them getting work alongside the team’s draft picks and undrafted signings. Adams is hoping he can show enough this weekend that he’ll sign with Washington and get a shot at making the 90-man roster for the start of training camp.
