The Saints have signed offensive tackle Tyrus Thompson following a minicamp tryout, per various reports.

A sixth-round pick of the Vikings in 2015, Thompson was waived-injured at the conclusion of the preseason and later waived from the injured-reserve list. He then spent time on the practice squads of both the Jaguars and Lions and was recently waived by the Lions.

The Saints had five players with NFL experience in as tryout players for their weekend rookie minicamp, which concluded Sunday. Pass rusher Matt Shaughnessy, defensive tackle C.J. Wilson and kickers Connor Barth and Nate Freese were also in the minicamp.

Thompson was a two-year starter at Oklahoma and a first-team All-Big 12 pick in 2014.

  1. Hmm that is news that he was on the Jags practice squad. Then again how many people really pay attention to these players…besides teams of course.

very promising player, hes extremely slow but has a big body clean route running and truly has freakish catch strength
could be an actual colston replacement, which coleman is clearly not. and Michael Thomas, while promising and exciting to have, is a far different kinda player than a lotta pundits r making him out to be. Faster and not nearly as much of a banger as colston

  5. If an offensive lineman can’t crack the starting lineup in Minnesota, his career is probably over in the NFL.
