We’re not sure what’s going to happen in the quarterback competition among Sam Bradford, Chase Daniel and Carson Wentz, but we are sure that McLeod Bethel-Thompson won’t take any snaps away from any of them.
The Eagles announced that Bethel-Thompson, who had been fourth on the quarterback depth chart, has been released.
Bethel-Thompson has had quite the football journey. He started his college career at UCLA and finished it at Sacramento State, and has had three different stints with the 49ers, two with the Dolphins, two with the Vikings, one with the Patriots, one with the San Jose SaberCats of Arena Football and one with the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the United Football League. Now he’ll try to find some other team that will give him a chance to be a camp arm.
By our count, Bethel-Thompson has now been cut nine times.
The Eagles also cut offensive lineman Brett Boyko, and signed tight end M.J. McFarland and linebacker Ty Powell. Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz previously coached Powell in Buffalo.
