Another Jaguars draft pick is out with an injury.
Jonathan Woodard, a defensive end whom the Jaguars chose in the seventh round of the draft, has suffered a torn Achilles tendon. Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union reports that Woodard suffered the injury two weeks ago. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Woodard has already undergone surgery.
A torn Achilles tendon is usually a season-ending injury, so it’s unlikely that Woodard will play as a rookie.
The Jaguars have already had their top pick, defensive back Jalen Ramsey, suffer a torn meniscus in his knee. Last year their top pick, defensive end Dante Fowler, was lost for the season with a knee injury suffered on the first day of rookie minicamp.
Woodard played his college football at Central Arkansas. He’ll have to wait until 2017 to play pro football.
