T.Y. Hilton “more motivated” in 2016

At this time of year, everyone is undefeated and optimistic and playing really fast in shorts. And all of that makes it easy to get excited about how players look on the practice field.

Stephen Holder of the Indy Star wrote that praise Colts coach Chuck Pagano has bestowed upon wide receiver T.Y. Hilton has been “no embellishment” and that Hilton has been the star of the team’s early spring practices.

“I’m more motivated, more hungry,” Hilton said. “I’m just ready to go, man. After watching the playoffs last year and not being in there, I’m just ready to get back to that point and continue to lead this team.”

Hilton still caught 69 passes for 1,124 yards last season, his third straight season over 1,000 yards. But quarterback Andrew Luck was hurt and the Colts weren’t the same team they were in the previous two seasons. Hilton signed a big-money extension before last season because he’s Luck’s top target, and for the Colts to get back to the playoffs they’ll need another big season from Hilton.

“T.Y. is having as good an offseason as anybody, probably better than anybody,” Pagano told reporters. “I’ve never seen this guy practice as fast as he’s practicing right now. He’s done it day in and day out.”

  1. Last year Davante Adams was the big star in Packers camp. Almost every day we were told how motivated he was and how he was making highlight reel plays. So there is that.

  2. So sad they are not playing the Patriots this year… when he will be “less motivated”, it will be impossible for him to say “bu… bu… but the ball was deflated! 😥 “

  3. Great receiver……pitiful team…..pathetic GM. If Andrew Luck re-signs with these guys he is crazy. He could be playing for the Broncos in 2017.

  4. The name of the game is staying healthy. Last year Phillip Dorsett went down, and then Andrew Luck went down. If this team can stay healthy they’re going to the super bowl. Two years ago they were in the AFC championship, and they’re a much better team now. The Colts are loaded with talent on both sides of the ball. Their recent drafts have been outstanding.

  5. Overrated!! I only see maybe 3 or 4 Colts non-playoff games a year, but it always seemed he would drop long balls that Luck threw better than I thought humanly possible. I also kind of saw him as a guy that to often takes bad angles to deep balls, or misuses speed by slowing down at a bad time and looking the wrong way. He grabs a lot of them, but drops BIG passes. I think it’s more Luck’s greatness and his speed and mediocre hands/ball skills. Can you imagine the kind of numbers Brown, Fitzgerald, Beckham, or even Brandon Marshall would put up with Luck dropping everything right in the basket for them?
