The allegation of sexual assault a dancer made against Eagles wide receiver Nelson Agholor this week comes from a dispute she had with Agholor over how much money he owed her, NJ.com reported Friday afternoon.
The report quotes a source with knowledge of what happened as saying the dancer left a private room she and Agholor had entered in a Philadelphia strip club before the agreed upon time and that she did not inform management of the alleged assault. According to the same source, multiple dancers at the club have told management that Agholor did nothing wrong.
Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross confirmed Friday afternoon that police were investigating a claim that Agholor had assaulted a dancer at Cheerleaders Gentleman’s Club on Thursday. Agholor has not been charged with a crime, and a police spokesman told NJ.com that the investigation is ongoing.
The Eagles released a statement on Friday that said: “We are aware of the police investigation involving Nelson Agholor. The organization has been in contact with Nelson and with the proper authorities in Philadelphia. Because of the legal nature of this matter, we will have no further comment.”
Initial reports said at least two other Eagles players were with Agholor at the club. The NJ.com report said Agholor had agreed to pay the woman $1,400 for an hour in the private room, but Agholor paid her $800 because she left before the agreed upon time.
Agholor, 23, was a first-round pick in 2015. The NJ.com report said Agholor left Philadelphia Friday and has returned home to Florida.
