Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall had been practicing without a contract this offseason. Now he’s done with that.
Marshall and the Broncos have agreed to a four-year contract, the team announced. Mike Klis of KUSA reports that the deal includes a $10 million signing bonus.
As a restricted free agent, Marshall declined to sign his $2.533 million tender offer this year, but he and the Broncos have been in regular contract talks, and now a deal is done that will keep him in Denver beyond just this year.
A 2012 fifth-round pick of the Jaguars, Marshall was cut after one year in Jacksonville and barely played the next year after he caught on in Denver. But he has consistently improved, and last year started all 16 games on the league’s best defense. The Broncos view him as a building block for that defense for many years.
