The 49ers announced Thursday that third-round cornerback Will Redmond has signed his rookie contract.
A one-year starter but three-year contributor at Mississippi State, Redmond had five interceptions and broke up eight passes in his college career.
He was suspended for his freshman and part of his sophomore season for receiving impermissible benefits, then missed the final five games of his senior season due to a torn ACL that probably caused Redmond to drop in the draft.
The 49ers drafted Redmond at No. 68 in April. During the draft, 49ers general manager Trent Baalke said he was confident Redmond would be ready to participate at the start of training camp and Redmond said he expects to be able to play in 2016.
