The players are willing to submit to interviews over Al Jazeera report

Yes, the NFL plans to interview multiple players regarding allegations of PED use arising from an Al Jazeera report. No, the players aren’t the ones dragging their feet.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the players in question — Clay Matthews, Julius Peppers, and James Harrison — are and have been willing to submit to interviews, along with free-agent Mike Neal. The delay arises from an inability of the NFL and NFL Players Association to reach an agreement on the scope of the interviews and other factors relevant to the process.

The NFLPA understandably is concerned about the precedent this could set, given the questions that have emerged regarding the credibility of the Al Jazeera report. If interviews proceed based on the information reported by Al Jazeera, what else could spark an investigation? A claim on social media that a player used steroids? An anonymous tip to the league office that a player bought HGH?

As a result, the union is pushing back on behalf of all players, even though the players currently involved insist that they have no concerns about the issue and, likewise, nothing to hide.

  1. They’re willing…confident in the knowledge that the NFL PA won’t let it happen.

  2. Packers almost to the NFC Title game and Viking fans still thump their chest about a division title?

Just, because someone says “Hey we got all these star athletes using our stuff,” Doesn’t mean you can go off of that, who’s not to say its some guy trying to make his company “Look Good” as it were the next Balco or Biogenesis, in attempt to drum up some business.

Just because it airs on TV doesn’t always mean its true…

But wait, I thought Al Jazeera was supposed to be beyond reproach with their “investigative jounalism”.

  4. Right Shaggy, because if Vikings players were implicated in this, you and your fellow fans would have them tried , convicted, and sentenced already.
    You are so transparent.

Just because you want to believe it isnt true, doesnt make it a lie…

  5. Clay and Peppers – there’s plenty of time to destroy your phone and come up with a logical explanation for this like maybe you were buying these for your friend nicknamed “the deflator” because he lost all his muscle mass and needed to get it back.

  6. How stupid ! Of course these players are saying they are willing to be interviewed…..as long as they can hide behind the NFLPA’s refusal to have the players interviewed. No way Peppers has been able to play at a high level without a little help and the NFL is only about 10 years late on Matthews. Remember, he came out of USC as a 210 lb. backup player who rarely saw any game action other than special teams, not going to convince anyone outside of GB that he isn’t a doper.

  7. If you’re clean then what do you care if you need to answer some wu actions.
Most of these guys are trying to find ways to cheat the system and the NFLPA provides a smoke screen.
I’m no fan of Goodell but that bood D Smith is much worse…

  10. Ugh, another “fan” saying a pro sports league is “rigged”. Do you realize how many people would know about this? Not only that, ALL OF THEM would have to keep their mouth shut.
Each pro sport is a multi billion dollar entity. No way will they kill the geese that are laying the golden eggs by “rigging” outcomes of games.

Take off your tin foil hat please.

    ________

So now winning a first round playoff game against the worst team to make the playoffs in years is almost making the NFC title game?

I’d rather thump my chest about a division title than thump my chest about beating the Redskins.

Not rigged, but the deck was overwhelming stacked, purposely, in Denver’s favor.

Ed Hochuli was selected to ref the AFCCG against NE because Denver was 8-0 all time with Ed as their ref, but NE was only 3-5.

Clete Blakeman was the SB ref. Denver is 5-0 all time with him as their ref, Then, the NFL place a rabid Broncos fan in the replay booth! His wife was in the stands saturating social media during the game. Remember, that SB turned of a controversial call. We all saw what was clearly a catch ruled an incompletion. On the very next play, Newton fumbled, lost his confidence and that was all she wrote.

No. Losing the following week, on the road, in overtime, against a heavily favored opponent, was almost making the NFC title game.

  14. For some of those players they ought to be looking more into anti-aging or hair enhancement medication.

Has Peyton Manning turned over his cell phone yet? NFL rigged Super Bowl 50.”

Not a Broncos fan, but this is a moronic statement. Did Goodell cause the left tackle to stop blocking? Did the NFL prevent Cam from dancing…. away from his own fumble?
