Eagles players head to San Diego for pre-training camp work

Just as the Chargers may be inching toward moving out of San Diego, the Eagles have moved in. Well, some of them.

Via Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com, a group of Eagles led by quarterback Sam Bradford (who not long ago wanted to be in any city other than Philadelphia) has traveled to San Diego for workouts during the gap between offseason workouts and training camp.

Others present include receivers Jordan Matthews, Josh Huff, T.J. Graham and possibly Rueben Randle, tight end Zach Ertz, and running back Darren Sproles, whose NFL career began in San Diego a decade ago.

But Bradford isn’t the only quarterback present. Chase Daniel and rookie Carson Wentz also are there.

Bradford’s gesture underscores that the ugliness following the team’s decision to trade up to the No. 2 spot in the draft to secure Wentz has subsided, and that Bradford accepts the reality that, in the year-to-year proposition that is the NFL, this year is probably Bradford’s last year with the Eagles. He’s apparently intent on making the most of it.

  1. Ruben Randle will likely be a little late arriving, due to taking the wrong route.

  2. Somehow San Diego has become the HQ for quarterback gurus and where QBs train, others soon follow.

Maybe San Diego should just write off the Chargers and instead offer to host an NFL non-contact 7-on-7 pre- pre-season league – a Spring Training-like season that likely have better rating than July baseball.

  3. richiethegreek and jjbo811 – Sports geniuses in the age of social media. “Never were” athletes ripping those who’s jocks you couldn’t even begin to hold. You’ve got to love the “keyboard warriors”. Flacco, Romo, Warner, Simms, Gannon, O’Brien, Jaworski, and Big Ben (from a team and conference that NDSU would beat handily)………please educate yourselves before making uneducated comments. Social media = the idiotization of America:)

  4. I hear that the Cowboys are all getting together soon……..they just have to finalize the detention center that holds the most of them at this point:)

  5. Good news, Eagle fans, Sammy only threatened to quit and go home twice today.

    Care to explain, genius?

  7. Maybe Bradford is taking a page out of the Donovan McNabb offseason workout. That consists of 15% throwing balls around the backyard, 45% playing Madden on the Playstation 4, and 50% beer drinking.

  8. vegasdestroyer – Two month old news. Keep up with things my friend. I’m not an Eagles fan, but cracking on a guy who will make more in a year than you and I and our ten best friends combined will make in a lifetime is pretty lame. He wins…….we lose!

    do you even math?

  10. troylok – No silly, Bradford and McNabb are enjoying their tens of millions……..while we post comments to a football website. I’d say that they worked harder than us to achieve what they did, as neither were blessed with off the charts size and athleticism. We only have ourselves to blame for slacking off and not going for it!

  11. They should give Peyton Manning a call to give pointers. Learn from the best while he is retired.

  12. “I’ll take Bradford and McNabb’s offseasons over Tavaris Jackson’s:)”

I’ll take Bradford and McNabb’s offseasons over Johnny Manziel’s 🙂

  13. Nelson Agholor is in the champagne room and unavailable for the session.

What, you’ve never heard of a player giving 110%?

  15. It’s a great time of year to be a millionaire athlete at the San Diego bar/club scene. Just take a cab or an Uber home!

Speaking of Agholor…..How long does it take the police to figure out if he committed a crime or not? Talk about ineptitude.

I was being sarcastic. I’m a die hard Eagles fan. Every Eagles article there are a handful of trolls who call the Eagles a dumpster fire or the “new Browns.”

  21. Just got back from Mission Beach where 6 Eagles players were partying in the house behind the one I was in. Maybe they were running routes on the rooftop balcony so no one can see.
