Isaiah Crowell to donate first game check of season to police charity

Browns running back Isaiah Crowell has already apologized, and has already been told that wasn’t enough.

Now, the man who posted and quickly deleted a drawing of a man killing a police officer last week is putting his money where his mouth is.

Crowell told TMZ Sports he was donating his first game check of the season to the Dallas Fallen Officer Foundation, which supports officers killed in duty like the five last week. Crowell’s unfortunate post came before the Dallas shootings, but after a pair of men were shot and killed by police in Louisiana and Minnesota.

“I would never wish violence on anyone, especially a police officer,” Crowell said. “I’m sorry to all the Browns fans, all the people who support my career and all the kids out there who look up to me. But most of all, all the good police officers who are out there protecting us every day. By posting that picture, I became part of the problem. And I don’t want to be part of the problem, I want to be part of the solution. . . .

“I know this may not change your mind about me, and I can’t take the post back. But I’m sorry, and moving forward, I’m committed to being part of the solution.”

Crowell’s scheduled to make $600,000 this year, which would put his donation at $35,294.

He’s right that the gesture won’t change some minds, but it’s also the kind of thing he has to do if he’s going to convince his employers of his contrition, in hopes of hanging onto the rest of his paychecks.

  1. Do some community service there as well, instead of just throwing money at it.

  2. This is what I’m talking about. Feel however you want about the statement Crowell made, the Browns as employers can do as they see fit, but, on the whole, this is the forced nationalism I mentioned in another post yesterday. A culture has been created where we’re brainwashed from almost birth to believe that governmental authority equates to “goodness” and being “right”, and all else is “wrong” and “evil.” They’ve altered not only your thinking, but also corrupted your overall perception. You WILL line up and kiss the feet of anyone in any kind of uniform, and smile for the cameras while doing it, or else you will be shamed and ostracized into adopting (at least publicly) the mentality that they want you to have.

  3. The gesture would have seemed much more authentic and sincere – if it came from the heart of Crowell.

Instead, upon realizing he infuriated his employers/bosses (and the fans) – Crowell hoped a hollow apology would work.

And it was only when that fell short and Crowell felt pressured to take it up a notch.

Sincere heartfelt apologies mean a great deal. Apologies that are forced, phony or under duress mean a lot less.

Next time, don’t glorify the murder of the men and women who are risking their lives day and night to protect you and your loved ones. You’re lucky to have a job, let alone a well-paying one.

  4. That statement seems more heartfelt than his first try. Not sure if it was his own words, but it was much better.

  5. The problem I have with it is that when you make a donation, especially a donation of that amount, you get to write it off on your taxes meaning you will get to recoup a portion of that money. He shouldn’t be allowed to recoup any of it.

  6. Did he check with Loomis to see if this was enough first? I have as much disdain for Loomis as I do for Crowell. ‘Needs to write a check”.
And now, he knows protection for money works.

  7. The fact he has to do this is driving Florio and Gantt nuts because they believe he did nothing wrong and is a “victim”.

    I love it!

  8. That’s more like it. The young man did something stupid and (assuming he follows through) is trying to atone. Accept and move on

  9. The Dallas Fallen Officer’s Foundation should rip the check up in front of his face. Please do not accept his money. Hopefully he will be fired before he can even earn his first game check. The Brown’s need to do the right thing. FIRE his ass!

  10. I don’t know why he couldn’t just say he’s very, very sorry for his temporary crass foolishness, and make the donation as a meaningful act towards repairing things, without all that politician-speak of “I’m moving forward” and “being part of the solution”, or “kids look up to me” (dude, they don’t). It still sounds like his agent or team’s PR, but the worst bit is where he “would never” wish violence on anyone – dude, you clearly already posted an image of a terrorist beheading a cop, so “never” is clearly untrue. Fail.

  11. Crowell’s donating his game check is just as hollow as his apology. It’s obvious it wasn’t his idea just as his apology.

Monday the RNC starts in Cleveland and Crowell has personally added risk to police officers and others there.

There should be no seconds chance with this, at least not with the Browns. He must be cut now!

  12. It’s a start, Isaiah. I believe in second chances. You can’t change the past but you can certainly atone for past mistakes. If you are sincere, awesome. If you are aware that kids look up to you, cool. Many before you have overcome adversity and used seemingly insurmountable obstacles as motivation. If you accept responsibility for your actions and vow to be a better man in the future, then you are a true role model.
Make a difference. We NEED good men. Now, more than ever.

  14. While I think what he did was ridiculous, I’ll give him credit for owning it and not punking out and saying his account got hacked or any other lame excuse…

  15. I’ll bet only a very small handful of people ever saw Crowell’s post before the media got ahold of it. And that very small handful of Crowell’s followers probably had similar feelings to begin with (or they wouldn’t be following him). Now millions and millions have seen it. He also posted it before the Dallas shootings. He saw video of men who looked like he did, getting pulled over for no apparent reason and shot to death in cold blood. Just for being black. As a young black man, I’m sure that hit home for him, much more than it did for people who have never been pulled over just for being black. So he reacted in a peaceful way. He didn’t commit any crimes or hurt anyone. We’re either a free country or we’re not. Freedom works both ways. We’re free to do a lot of things that we want to do, that others might not like. We have to respect the freedom of others’ who might want to do something we don’t like. That’s why we have laws. There are a lot of soldiers who gave their lives to protect our freedom. Those five cops in Dallas died protecting our freedom. Go check out a veteran cemetery before you start eroding those freedoms. These guys didn’t die for nothing. There’s nothing a guy like Crowell can do that would allow me to disrespect veterans that have died for our freedom. American freedom has survived a lot more than this. Don’t take freedom for granted.

  16. He shouldn’t even have a game cheque to cash.

If a white player posted on Instagram a picture of a lynching he would be cut and never play again.

Both would be an absolute disgrace.

    Fair is fair.

Only thing is that is a hypothetical situation and the Crowell one is a reality.

  17. Not close to good enough
Idiots like this are why folks think it is ok to shot cops

    This guy should be unemployed

It’s true that Blue Lives are not more valuable than civilian lives.

Neither should be taken under any circumstances.

But are you saying that it’s OK to encourage deadly force against innocent police men and women?

Here’s at least one problem with that train of thought: two wrongs don’t make a right.

Are you saying that two wrongs make DO a right? If so, then you negating logic and reason as foundations of our social structure.

We get that you are mad–and rightfully so. I know that I am your worst enemy–a white, old (56), male police officer–even though you are not my worst enemy.

I agree that you and people like you have been wronged.

Are you saying I should be killed? If so, then I’ll probably have to fight you on that one and that won’t help either of us.

  21. This sounds like extortion.
Newsflash to the boys in blue, you betrayed the trust of American citizens with your brutality and corruption. Now that citizens are armed with camera phones you’re getting exposed and you don’t like being held accountable. Not every cop is dirty and a way to prove it is by not standing behind the dirty one’s and speaking out. Police routinely complain when people won’t cooperate or provide information but they do the same exact thing when one of their colleagues beats and robs a drug dealer. Cops are human beings, not gods, and the sooner they realize this the better.

  22. So that Loomis guy’s extortion worked out well.

Loomis’ attitude is the exact thing people fear most from cops. I’d be scared to death to meet up with him somewhere that the cameras can’t see us.

  23. He’ll get a slap on the wrists by the Browns and the NFL….always a double standard…that’s just the way it is

  24. So far there has been no action by the Browns or the NF on this. This surely was “conduct detrimental to the game”. If sponsors would pull their support and fans would cease to support those sponsors who do not, then maybe the Browns and the NFL would understand how detrimental it is.

  25. Both the Browns and NFL are complicit in this now since they have not punished this racist chump. If it were the other way around (it’d be just as despicable), but it’d be on the national news and there would be protests against the NFL and highways being blocked. What a lack of courage by Haslem and Goodell to do the right thing.

  26. Hey TrailerParking, Google ‘Roland Fryer Police Force Study’ and I think you’d be quite enlightened. He’s an African-American economist/professor at Harvard and his study shows there is actually no racial bias by the police force. Check it out.

  27. I expected this PR damage control, but he posted a picture of a black guy slitting the throat of a white police officer with blood squirting out. He’s a racist who supports terrorism. No forgiveness for that.

If the tables were turned and it was a white player posting a picture of a black guy getting his throat slit he obviously would have been cut yesterday.

The Browns need to be boycotted until he is cut, no excuse for keeping him (that I have no doubt they will give soon) is acceptable, and he needs to be blacklisted from the NFL. period.

  28. Cut Him. Violence to the police has no place in society. Every profession has bad people we should all out them because it makes our jobs harder.

  29. I have said it before and I will say it again. People need to take responsibility for their actions.

The black community doesn’t trust cops, doesn’t like cops, considers cops the enemy. They are taught from birth not to trust cops, etc. In the white community cops are the good guys, they are someone you can trust, they will help you, etc.

That is part of the problem. The black community is always talking about respect. They murder each other over perceived disrespect. They expect all cops to show respect, etc. But there is absolutely no respect given to the police. Stop hating cops from the get go, and things will be different. When you treat a cop with respect, and not just an act, cops see through that, things will change.

When white people try to help, we get a face palm and a snarky “you didn’t grow up black, you don’t know what its like”. So if you wont accept help from white people, that means you have to fix the problems yourselves. So fix the damn problems already. And to be honest, my response as a guy who grew up in a 99% white community, things arent as different as you think. When you are 17-20 years old, and you and your friends are cruising around town, you are gonna get pulled over by the cops. They want to see if you are up to no good. In white communities that is called “police being proactive”. But in the black communities that is taught to children to mean “driving while black”. Yes DWB happens, but its over blown, just like everything else.

In the black community cops have earned the distrust, I get it, and they need to earn some trust back, but you cant teach hate, while hypocritically whining about “don’t judge us” while you judge everyone else. Kind of stupid to stereo type all cops while saying, don’t stereo type us. Plus, I hate to break it to you, but stereo types exist because they based on are truth. But people only get upset when the truth hurts. I’ll give you some examples. White people cant dance. Mostly true, but not entirely, that’s an acceptable stereo type. White men cant jump, also not entirely true, but mostly true, and again, acceptable. Black guys are all well hung, not true, but that stereo type isn’t just acceptable, it is put in your face at all times. Black people are criminals, clearly not entirely true, but when you are talking about a 99% black populated neighborhood, with extremely high crime, its pretty safe to say the criminals are black, but that is not an acceptable stereotype. If it makes black people look good, its ok. If it makes white people look bad, its ok. If it makes black people look bad, its sooooooooooo racist. Truth

  30. Donate to charity but why should he be forced to donate to cops families? They already have insurance.
What about other people killed by cops?

Blue lives aren’t more valuable than anyone elses.

  31. All of you saying “cut him now!!” etc. Its not happening so get over it. He made a terrible, disgusting mistake and now he has a chance to turn a negative into a positive and become part of the solution rather than part of the problem. Isn’t that good? Cuttting him does nothing, fining him and making do some community service work with the cops and kids does.

  32. I said this before & I’ll say it again. This dude should be Kicked out of the NFL. Donald Sterling lost his team for much less.

  33. I just don’t see how any of these gestures makes up for what he posted. Every tweet/instagram/facebook post that has ever been deleted was not an accident – that person genuinely felt that way in the moment they posted it.

I don’t know how he overcomes this, or if it is even possible to redeem himself. Everyone agrees the apology is not enough. Donating a game check is not enough, as it is obviously a PR play, and I hate the message that “money will make this go away.” The only thing that I can think of is for him to become an ambassador of the police in his community; but admittedly that’s pretty challenging to go out there with the message of “the police are just trying to help you” while most people will agree there is a bit of systemic problem with how some (definitely not most) police interact with specific groups of civilians.

  34. Boo.

I just read this as the police bullied him into doing donating money.

It was a momentary act of not thinking things through and a picture.

I feel like in incidents like this Crowell is being held to a higher standard then what we expect of law enforcement.

What crap. But hey, at least your comments are consistent.
So what you are saying is that social media or TV programs like The View are more accurate representations of justice than our laws. Sorry but Whoopi Goldberg is not the epitome of American jurisprudence and as Crowell is finding out, not every twitter post is positive.
Crowell is a good football player as evidenced by the fact that he draws a paycheck from the NFL. But that doesn’t make him anything more than that. However, in his capacity as an NFL player, there is the temptation to believe his skills extend outside of the field, his intuition transcends beyond a football or his personal social commentary accurately reflects national opinion. Wrong.
There is no extortion involved. Crowell is just seeing first hand the type of societal correction that takes place when those with a single specific skill decide to step onto a different soapbox that they have no business stepping onto. And if there is a problem with that, it is that it doesn’t happen often enough.

  36. Its funny how camera phones are brought up. Here’s the thing with that… the filming will only start once you see something happening. Missing why it started in the first place. Only filming the “Effect”, not the “Cause”. Anyways, police are now wearing body cameras, and don’t forget about the dash cam they have. So you have the incident from different perspectives.
Bottom line is, this needs to stop. People need to stop breaking the law. If you get pulled over, have your license and registration ready. It should never be a life and death situation, for anyone. Everyone has a family they want to get home to, someone they love. Do everyone a favor and DON’T BREAK THE LAW.

  37. Doesn’t make up for how he truly feels, he is not sorry he did this, he is only sorry because his employer got upset over it. Piece of crap!

  38. I’m not as cynical as most people commenting on this. I think this is a good first step for him to take. This is not an insignificant gesture by him. If you don’t think it’s that much, then you go ahead and donate 1/17th of your salary to the Dallas police.

I’m not saying what he did wasn’t wrong. Far from it. It does seem that he’s trying to turn the page on this and attempt to make up for his statement. At least he’s doing something to try to atone for his act as opposed to Miko Grimes who just responds by calling everyone else a racist. Crowell did something incredibly stupid but there’s an opportunity here for good in spite of that act. He could make a real step at bringing awareness to the problem that all cops are crooked and looking to murder minorities. I’d like to see him take the lead for change to make the situation better.

A person is more than the worst thing they’ve ever done (I heard that in a JAG episode once). What Crowell did was horrible but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s a horrible person. I have more respect for him than people who turn around and claim their account was hacked. At least he’s taking ownership of the situation. Maybe we should cut the guy a little slack and instead of condemning him see what everyone can do to try to make things better.

  39. I’m sorry but there are some things you just can’t undo. What Crowell posted is so horribly offensive and sick… no rational, decent person would ever think of doing that. This was not some mistake made in the moment. This is a bad dude and no amount of financial donation or community outreach can change that. He’s evil. How the Browns can continue to employ him is beyond me.

  40. This is not a start. This is a finish. Big thumbs up IMO. He did something stupid but this more than makes up for it IMO. I’d imagine his individual game check would be the biggest (or at least among the largest) donations the Dallas Fallen Officer Foundation receives.

Well done dude. Way to spin a negative into a positive.

  41. I’m sure his mindset hasn’t changed – he probably still hates cops, but this is a good move.

  42. Cops are human beings, not gods, and the sooner they realize this the better.
And the sooner YOU realize it the better. They are people as you said. And just like any other person, when you treat them in a disrespectful manner they will probably be disrespectful right back.
They have a tougher job than you can even imagine, rolling up in the dark to house and having to make life or death decisions in a fraction of a second.
You, as a citizen, would be smart to not put them in a position of needing to make that decision and possibly getting it wrong.

  43. I would rather see him donate 2 weeks of ride alongs in the roughest neighborhoods in Cleveland so he can understand the risks police take each day to keep people safe. And believe it or not that’s why we have laws and you don’t get to pick and choose which ones you want to follow because of skin color.

  44. Crowell seems to be sincere. I don’t know if he’s sorry because he was wrong, or if he’s sorry because everyone got mad at him. Either way, we have to be a society that allows people the opportunity to learn and grow from their stupid choices. What he did was unacceptable. He could do a lot of good going forward if means what he said

  45. Still a loser. Must have a chestnut for a brain to think tweeting something like that is ever OK. Nice work Browns – real winner you have here. Just cut him.

  46. He should be cut, period. If a white player did anything similar, and as racist, he’d be cut or the blacks would riot. So now is the time for the Browns to make a statement and dump this racist.

  47. The problem in this country is, all is forgotten if you hand over cash !

    ———-
Eagle’s Riley Cooper would probably agree with you but he would also disprove your point.

  49. Sorry, but he is just like the other thousands of black lives matter “supporters” who posted this same picture along with other tweets supporting the violence and killing of cops.

I think his regret and remourse is directly tied to the millions of dollars he can lose versus his true remorse. If he wasn’t an NFL player, I bet that post would still remain on his twitter feed right now.

  50. DaveWR stop it with that double standard reverse racism crap, ‘if a white player did this…’ well guess what, a white player wouldn’t do this because his people aren’t being unjustifiably murdered by people sworn and paid to protect them and then going unpunished. His post was gross, this doesn’t make up for it but it’s a start, no more, no less

  51. everyone hating on Crowell for trying to correct his own course.

I don’t hear about any other more prominent football players doing anything remotely similar to donating game checks to foundations. But keep hating on Crow. That’s cool and not unbecoming of anyone.

    Check.

  52. He posted a disgusting picture. He didn’t kill anybody. He apologized, but I haven’t heard an apology from the police departments In Baton Rouge, or in Minnesota. Those guys are on paid leave, and if the trend continues, will be cleared of wrongdoing, whatever actually did happen. There are police departments complaining about “fake” apologies, without offering any kind of remorse. Justice?

  53. If I donate a game’s wages, maybe I won’t get suspended without pay for 4 or worse yet, cut. That’s what he’s thinking. You don’t go from posting that picture to caring overnight.

  54. Donating $35,294. more than makes up for posting a stupid cartoon picture.

Some of you extremest on here are as bad as ISIS. That’s more money than some will make working 50 or more weeks in 2016.

I remember when ISIS got all upset over a cartoon too.

  55. Lol @ all the clowns defending this turd now. The Browns forced him to hand over the check as they said an apology wasn’t enough. His heart is still bad. And to the clown above that compared people not talking to cops beating up and robbing a drug dealer, are u serious?

  57. How many people have posted something on Facebook/Twitter/etc. and then deleted it shortly after? My guess is, a lot. In today’s age, we are allowed the platform to let all of our mind diarrhea flow right out to anybody willing to listen (aka follow or friend), and probably shouldn’t be. Isaiah did something very dumb out of feelings of anger (I’m sure you can think of a meme you’ve shared, only to think you were stupid for sharing it some time later), and from everything that has come out since, it’s clear to me that he realizes it was stupid, feels bad that he riled so many people up, and wants everybody to know that he feels awful about it.

  58. Sorry, you cant unring this bell you racist chump Crowell..
You’re gonna get booed every time you touch the ball…
    home games too

  59. Pushing for apologies & then not accepting them in order to further drive someone into the ground PR-wise is a tired, old SJW tactic. It needs to stop.

I dearly hope American society realizes that mad protests lead to violence which turns into a viscous repeating cycle. This is a clear path to an even greater police-state & potentially martial law.

Anybody realize that the situation in Dallas “was resolved” with a Drone strike?

    Wake up Sheeple.

  60. This is my first comment but I do read them frequently. All of you screaming for him to get cut and/or worse disgust me as an American. While I vehemently disagree with the image he didn’t infringe on anybody else’s rights! He is allowed to have his opinion just as you are allowed to have yours! Without even touching on the events that prompted the rhetoric I defend, now, his right to have an opinion. The fact that his employer got involved beyond a disclaiming statement is absurd. Seriously, they employ him to work there; why does that give them the right to be his moral police? Our society has come so far yet fallen so hard. All of you grabbing your pitch forks and heading for the ogre den need to crawl back under your rock. This country was built on certain principles and one of those is a right to differing opinions. The Supreme Court roundly protects hate speech under the first amendment, for anyone. They’re the legal experts so that’s good enough for me. I know he doesn’t care but still, you do you Crow don’t donate a dollar. You have a right to your opinion whether I agree with it or not. Again, for the comprehension challenged (looking at you abininf) I don’t.

  61. The issue here is that Crowell’s post is indicative of a larger problem. If you posted something as offensive on your account and your boss saw it…you would be fired. Plain and simple. You wouldn’t be allowed to “donate your first check”, or apologize to your co-workers and the public. You would be fired…period. Why is this situation different? C’mon Roger Goodell…do your job!

It can only be because it’s not a football related comment, but I completely agree with you.
I believe Crowell would really apologize from his heart and not just his pocket book if he saw the stuff police officers are exposed to day after day and night after night. Obviously it’s not possible to simulate, but I would like to see how anyone of those who speak out against our police officer would feel if they had to approach a vehicle and have a gun drawn on them. Who would clean up the mess in their pants after that experience. Yet we expect our police officers to do that routinely and without ever making a mistake. And even worse, by far, there are more black lives taken every year by black on black crime and where is that outrage? Why isn’t Whoopi Goldberg shooting off her very vocal mouth about that? And why didn’t we hear from Crowell or others about the stupidity associating with Aqui Talib shooting himself? Or with utter disgust about Will Smith being gunned down?
If those of you who speak fervently about black lives mastering really believe it, then put your commitment where your mouth is and speak up about the real horror in our society rather than supporting the gangster mentality that is so often the solution to our problems.
And then, let’s all go out and enjoy a tail gating party together.

Lol @ all the clowns defending this turd now.
    ——–
I’m not defending him as much as I’m pointing out that TO ME he’s made up for his error in judgment. 35K donated to the families of the fallen officers makes up for posting a stupid, ill timed cartoon. TO ME he’s more than made up for some hurt feelings by donating 35K. So to me his error has been corrected.

  64. He said something (ok posted it) offensive.
You people are acting like he beat up a woman and her kid.
He’s a moron, but he didn’t break the law.

The way people are carrying on, you want him to never work again and be destitute.
    That’s stupid.

Cops kill people and get desk duty. This guy posted something offensive and you want him virtually dead.
Many here are biased and need to look in a mirror.

  65. In a questionnaire roughly 80% of American American policemen have admitted they feel fear when they are off duty and encounter police. The police caused the distrust, it’s up to them to earn it back. I’m sorry some people don’t like the truth.

  66. Okay, he apologized and is donating his first game’s check to the families of the slain officers. I think that’s a positive thing.
I hope he personally delivers the check and sits down with those families and maybe he’ll have a better understanding about the tough job cops do after that.
In this country when tragedy strikes, we are usually very good at coming together and reaching out to one another. Think back to 9-11. The problem is, we don’t sustain those feelings, and that’s the problem.
Crowell’s posting of that cop having his throat cut is an example of what not to do, and he and a lot of others need to understand that.

  67. Shouldn’t Obama, Hillary and Loretta Lynch be shamed into donating one week’s pay to the police for their support of “Black Lives Matter” following the murder of police officers?

In a questionnaire roughly 80% of American American policemen have admitted they feel fear when they are off duty and encounter police. The police caused the distrust, it’s up to them to earn it back. I’m sorry some people don’t like the truth.
    =================================
Questionnaires are interpreted by statisticians. And statisticians are capable of finding any answer you want by adjusting confidence factors or question phrasing.
But ask a white person or an African American for that matter, what they feel if they encountered an African American group of folks they don’t know on a street corner at night and the answer would be the same, they feel fear. And why? Because a very small number of African American folks on a street corner at night have done something in the past to justify that fear. Does that mean that all African Americans hanging around on a street corner at night should be feared? Of course not. But they are feared never-the-less. Should all African Americans apologize or fight to win trust back for the actions of a few? Of course not, but that doesn’t change the reality.

    —————————————-
Not what I was getting at at all. You are not my enemy. That’s not how I view law enforcement.

Just wanted to point that out.

  70. People pulling the race card saying blacks are being murdered unjustly by police is bull.

How about worrying about the innocent blacks being murdered by other blacks. How about worrying about inner city blacks so afraid because street gangs literally run their neighborhoods.

94 % of black people murdered are done so by other blacks. If BLM was for real they would be protesting that in their own neighborhoods. Probably don’t do it because they know they would be shot.

    =====================================

He’s not going to be part of the solution. He’ll forcibly donate some money and hope it all goes away. He needs to be cut and blacklisted from the NFL.

A white player would have been cut the moment this broke into the news.

  72. Just how the rich think….Just throw money at it and the problem will magically go away. Not sure why the Browns would want to keep someone with questionable decision making skills. I bet if his decision making cost them a game, they would then rethink their decision to keep him.

Lol @ all the clowns defending this turd now. The Browns forced him to hand over the check as they said an apology wasn’t enough. His heart is still bad. And to the clown above that compared people not talking to cops beating up and robbing a drug dealer, are u serious?
    ———————————————————-
I point you to my post. I doubt anybody would defend the actions, just his right to post it. Freedom doesn’t work both ways! Liberty-the state or condition of people who are able to act and speak freely. PERIOD. As long as he didn’t infringe on your rights he’s cool. Your hurt feelers have nothing to do with his rights. Just because you disagree with his post doesn’t mean he doesn’t have the right to forum his opinions. That’s kind of what social media is.

  74. How the Browns can continue to employ him is beyond me. How the NFL can continue to have this scum bag wear “the shield” is beyond me. Guess an NFL shield is more important than a Police one, eh.

  75. @vivelaliberte88

He has the right to voice his opinion but has NO RIGHT to employment in the NFL…..nobody wants that trash associated with their brand.

Tell him good luck voicing his opinion in the CFL or Arena League (GOOD LUCK)

  76. Crow was expressing frustration, and was not the cause of the tragedy that happened afterwards. Calvin Williams is over extending the reach of his office and its scope of power.

  77. @rbtmountain @outlaw53

You really agree with employers being society’s moral police? Why should fringe beliefs cost someone their livelihood? I can’t get along with that thinking. Does he perform his job satisfactorily according to his employer? That should be as far as their overreach into his PERSONAL beliefs. This problem is systemic and not at all specific to Crow, yet the fact that you believe that should just be the accepted norm scares me. Where do we draw the line? Even now most people delete their social media while looking for a job because a four year old picture of them with an adult beverage at a social event points to bad judgment. How hypocritical is that? Do a majority of adults not take part in libations after work? C’mon man!! Everyone has at least one post they could take back. You need to come back down here with us normal folks because clearly the air is getting thin in your Ivory Tower!

  78. I don’t get the “especially cops” remark. Just don’t wish death on anyone at all and there doesn’t haven’t to be an “especially cops”. It seems like he’s about to laugh the whole time idk maybe it’s me

  79. @roofdoc1

So what? he has different beliefs the shouldn’t affect his LIVELIHOOD. Like I said all they have to do is disclaim his statement. Radio stations disclaim about beliefs constantly. They don’t worry about one person’s beliefs ruining their brand.

  80. Well now the cops just shook him down for cash.

What he did reminds me of ISIS hands down the most dreadful people on earth. What he did shows what kind of person he is and that is a criminal.

That being said two wrongs do not make a right. You just shook him down for cash.

I’ve never been more ashamed of my country and the way people are acting. Black and White alike look in the mirror and get your heads right. Our fearless leader has done a great job uniting America. Division is an understatement.

This country has a lot of work to accomplish but let’s not lose perspective on the long list of African Tyrants and Dictators that has laid waste to huge groups of people using the police at hand in many countries. Our Police do not have clean hands in all these situations but look around to see how good we do have it in the US. Our police are needed to maintain order period.

  81. This is absolutely BRILLIANT. So there is NO way Crowell came up with it. I’d credit his agent. For a guy under so much fire, knowing mgmt, had to at least be CONSIDERING terminating his contract and releasing him, he ties making the final roster to doing something good.

Ingenius. Well played Mr. Crowell’s agent. Well played.

  82. Too many activists in the world complaining about the state of the communities they themselves have laid waste to. Stay in school. Don’t do drugs. Don’t go to jail. Go to a religious service once a week. Get married. Don’t have a child out of wedlock. Couple that with a government that doesn’t do bad deals or tolerate the law being broken at our borders we’ve got a great country again.

    ———————————————————————-

Yeah but you shouldn’t be happy about people getting killed. You can agree or disagree with some laws everyone does but killings and violence against each other in our own country should not be supported by anyone.

  84. No one, except the gullible and fanboys bought the first “apology” written by the Browns PR firm. Now this is all damage control with the least possible symbolic gestures.

What he did was reprehensible. SOME cops deserve a lot of grief, but remember that they deal with day in and day out against some of the worst of society.

  85. Hahaha! Part of the solution? You can’t change your heart and character in a few days.

  86. @trailerparkking, where did you get those stats from? Can we see the questionnaire online anywhere?

That sounds like a crock but I would like to see it.

  87. When did this country return to 1960s attitude towards race? Every video now looks like something filmed during that time. So many lines being drawn and you have to be on one side or another but we all live in the same circle. History has shown all great empires crumble, and its happening right now in America.

He shouldn’t even have a game cheque to cash.

If a white player posted on Instagram a picture of a lynching he would be cut and never play again.

Both would be an absolute disgrace.

    Fair is fair.

Only thing is that is a hypothetical situation and the Crowell one is a reality.
    …………………………………………………………………………
See this is why we have a racial divide in this country because ignorant folks like yourself. As a black man i’m tired of the racial divide in this country and i want us to move past this racism crap as country. However when folks like yourself try to compare the plight of police officers in this country to the lynching of blacks in this country is insulting. Tell me how many police officers were murdered because someone didn’t like the way they drove their car. I’ve stories of family members being lynched because of white folks not liking the way they drove a wagon or they walked with confidence. Ignorant people like you are what’s wrong with this country.

  89. ive got a question.

if crowell is cut from the browns and not picked up is his game check still viable. better yet if he is suspended the first game is there a clause that takes away the money?

  90. i could see his agent coming up with donating his first game check. 1) because hes probably broke right now and 2) because it could keep him from getting suspended the first week

We don’t doubt you at all.

However, if a white football player ever posted a picture of the lynching of a black man, are you saying that NOTHING would happen to that white football player in today’s world?

We all know he would be cut immediately, and likely sued. Which would be the correct response.

Yet, Crowell is only being asked to pay a fine?
In addition, Obama, Hillary and Loretta Lynch all support Black Lives Matter.

    That’s not racial equality.

  92. One of the more expensive Tweets in history! Still going to get every moving violation ticket possible when he’s out about town.

  93. Give him a break. He should not have posted the drawing. He is guilty of bad taste and has offered a 35K game check. He should not lose his short career over it.

  94. @trailerparkking, where did you get those stats from? Can we see the questionnaire online anywhere?
    __________
I got the stat from the Congressional hearing yesterday about the DOJ. I believe a congressman from Louisiana stated them. I’m not sure if it was an internal thing or if it’s available online, I would have to go back and re-watch to get that specific answer. Perhaps there’s a video online, he stated several interesting stats.

  95. I got that stat from the Congressional hearing yesterday. I believe the congressman represented Louisiana. He cited many interesting stats, it’s worth watching. I’m not sure if this was an internal survey or if it’s publicly available but I’m sure you can find video of his statements/ questions online somewhere.

  96. I hear everybody talking whether is positive or negative but how many on this Newsfeed can and are willing to match his donation…………….crickets

  97. Hate to say this but… Before I would donate to Police Fund (or any other) I’d make damn sure you know where and how much is really going to help intended.
