49ers linebacker Aaron Lynch suspended four games

The Friday news dump is in full swing today, with yet another suspension to go along with the rest of today’s news.

The 49ers just announced that linebacker Aaron Lynch was suspended without pay the first four weeks of the regular season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

“While disappointed to hear the news regarding Aaron today, we support and respect the league’s decision,” General Manager Trent Baalke said in a statement. “We are confident that he will learn from this matter and that he understands what is expected of him moving forward.”

The 2014 fifth-rounder has been a productive pass-rusher for the 49ers, with 6.5 sacks last year in 14 games.

Then again, talented pass-rushers with eligibility issues seem to be a thing there.

He was suspended for SUBTANCE ABUSE (i.e weed) VIOLATION. You are still the PEDHawks.

Raiders don’t even own their own stadium.

  4. If it’s over pot this is dumb.
    Anything else is reasonable.
No worries niners fans, you have chip and Gabbert. Time to hold York accountable?

  5. niners816 is crying about this one for sure. Oh wait, that’s right, he’s not even an actual niners fan. I tell ya, it’s hard to tell who the trolls actually support sometimes.

  6. It’s gotta be hard to be a Santa Clara fan. Ctiggs, niners816 and brace yourself talk tough about how nobody has it better and all their other nonsense but reality has got to hurt. Everybody is writing about how the Hawks have the brightest future on top of already being great for the last four years. The kaperchoke vs. RW debate ended up being a landslide and harbaugh vs. Pete was a landslide as well. Pete won a championship and harbaugh tucked his tail and ran. So to recap. The Hawks will be perennial contenders until Russell is gone while the niners are stuck with kaperchoke and the joke chip Kelly. Checkmate

You guys didn’t even win the division last year and Wilson only had HALF of a good season and were curb stomped out of the playoffs. We were coached by Jim Tomsula last year ….. Jim Tomsula. Harbaugh and Carroll were actually split in the regular season and Harbaugh was forced out by an egomaniac GM and incompetent owner.

Don’t let facts get in the way of your delusional rantings and obsession with the Niners. And only one Niner fan on here uses the “no one has it better” slogan but even so I can see why someone would want to be reminded of Harbaugh given the current state of the team.

  8. Seahawks fans –

Not sure what you are doing gloating over this. Niners rivalry died last offseason, why even bother?

Go bug the Cardinals fans please. Or even better, conduct yourselves with a little class and stop embarrassing the rest of us.

PS until the Hawks a) win the division and b) sweep the Rams doing it, there’s not much in the way of divisional bragging rights

Have you seen his test results or something?

  10. Ctiggs is actually a Seahawks fan. He outed himself with a go Seahawks post in a moment of weakness in the NFC title game. It’s rather cute that our bandwagon friends to the north have created this “rivalry” with SF as if they have a massive chip on their shoulder. They’ve had recent success, but being new fans, they don’t know how to act with any sort of dignity or class.

Seahawk fans are new money. They’re new to the elite status and pulling up to the gated community and country club in the supped up el Camino and blaring their banjo music. They may share the same room with the others, but their manners are atrocious, chewing with their mouths open, brining their dogs in the dining room, whistling and snapping their fingers at waiters, etc.

  11. Disappointing.
Regardless if it should or should not be a violation (probably shouldn’t at this point) it is still on the books and everyone knows it is there. He got caught and needs to accept his punishment. Unfortunately his punishment also affects the rest of the team. I guess Goff has a better chance of surviving his first game now.

In order to draw a 4 game suspension a player has to already have failed at least 2 tests and been in the substance abuse program with zero tolerance. Honestly, how can you be posting on this subject and not know that?
As per the CBA the league never states what the substance was. Of course a player/agent is always going to filter out the word that it was pot, look no further than your own posts for the reason why

  13. Gotta address the revisionist history of Harbaugh and Carroll being separated by “only one regular season game” playoff wins count 10x. And then there’s the fact that Harbaugh only won a few close games at the stick, every other game was a nationally televised blowout, in those games Harbaugh and the erz looked like they belonged in college, not the NFL. To say anything other than Carroll and the Hawks absolutely destroyed that farce of a franchise is to take part in delusional thinking on a grand scale.

  14. Hard to believe Balkee still has a job. He is famous for taking red shirt picks in the draft, players with issues, and “tweeters” while 90% of them never work out. Lynch had draft day issues, and this was the reason.

  15. You can always count on the 49er so called fans and the rest of the Hawk haters to spout the same old tired; bandwagon claims, Wilson’s short, blah blah blah.

Heck, we sold out the Kingdome and Century Link when the Hawks weren’t so good. Did you see the empty seats at the brand new Santa Clara whatever last year? You people are a joke of a fan base. Now you even make the excuse that the coach was bad so it’s OK to be irrelevant.

  16. Ha!!! How far the niners have fallen and it must be hard to remember what it’s like to win a championship. I’ll give you a pass on that. It has been 25 years. Only a broken fan would hang on to the harbaugh and Carroll had an even regular season split and Wilson had half of a good season last year. Carroll won a SUPER BOWL!! Harbaugh never did that. Wilson is a star and has won a SUPER BOWL. Poor braceyourself. Did you pick that name because you’re bracing yourself for another 25 years without a championship?? I prefer not to live in the past. The present and future is looking pretty damn good for my team. You go ahead and watch replays of your last championship on VHS. At least when I ordered my sports illustrated championship bundle from the Hawks win it was in HD.

  17. It’s sad really… the hawk trolls (see above posts) have to come to a Niner post and beat their chest like the classless baboons they are acting like. Seriously guys, is it something in the water up there that causes the outpouring of poor sportsmanship? Not all hawk fans have to emulate their hero D1ck Sherman and run off at the oversized mouth with unsupportable statements.

Welcome to the big kids table hawk fans, now grow up and act like you belong here.

  18. Ctiggs, niners816 and brace yourself talk tough about how nobody has it better

…and that’s not even their phrase…they got it from a guy they fired 2 coaches ago who’s not even working the pros any more…

  19. 4 games for drug abuse?

Come on, it’s not like he might have had something to do with letting air out of footballs!
