The Friday news dump is in full swing today, with yet another suspension to go along with the rest of today’s news.
The 49ers just announced that linebacker Aaron Lynch was suspended without pay the first four weeks of the regular season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.
“While disappointed to hear the news regarding Aaron today, we support and respect the league’s decision,” General Manager Trent Baalke said in a statement. “We are confident that he will learn from this matter and that he understands what is expected of him moving forward.”
The 2014 fifth-rounder has been a productive pass-rusher for the 49ers, with 6.5 sacks last year in 14 games.
Then again, talented pass-rushers with eligibility issues seem to be a thing there.
