Earlier this week, we learned that Ryan Fitzpatrick has not renewed the lease on the New Jersey home he was renting while playing for the Jets last season.
There are no shortage of reasons why someone decides to make a change in living arrangements, but the one that would be most relevant in this corner of the world is that Fitzpatrick has decided not to return for another year as the team’s quarterback. The answer to that question may come at some point, but it didn’t come when reporters asked Fitzpatrick for comment on his status with the Jets while Fitzpatrick was at a celebrity golf tournament.
“Not right now,” Fitzpatrick said, via the New York Post.
Tournament organizers said they received several media requests for time with Fitzpatrick and that the quarterback declined them all. That may be because there’s nothing left to say as the extended nature of his impasse with the Jets has left little intrigue about what’s keeping the two sides from reuniting for another run. At this point, the only announcements from either side that will change things are going to be about a deal or about a final end to negotiations.
