Eagles re-signing QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson

Meet the new Eagles camp arm. Same as the old Eagles camp arm.

Quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson, who was cut by the Eagles in May, is expected to re-sign with the team, Adam Caplan of ESPN reports.

Bethel-Thompson is used to coming and going in his football career. He started college at UCLA and finished it at Sacramento State, and has had three different stints with the 49ers, two with the Dolphins, two with the Vikings, one with the Patriots, one with the San Jose SaberCats of Arena Football and one with the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the United Football League. Overall, he’s been cut nine times. Now he’ll begin his second stint with the Eagles.

There is almost no chance of Bethel-Thompson actually making the 53-player roster, as Sam Bradford, Chase Daniel and Carson Wentz have the three quarterback spots locked up.

  1. Given the metrics I wonder why he signed. I guess he wants to stay sharp and hope it gets him picked up elsewhere after camp.

I guess he had no options to sign elsewhere so took whatever was available. But yeah, no chance to make the Eagles roster.

My prediction? He’ll be the opening day starter. Go ahead and bet the house on it.

  3. Seriously, some of you need perspective… the reason why this guy is employable is because he was a “Camp Arm” for the Dolphins a few years ago and looked pretty good auditioning for the league. He gets paid about 7 times what most of us make to work for a few months at something he loves doing. All the power to him!

None of the 4 Eagles Qbs are as accomplished as Tebow in the NFL or the NCAAs!

What? Sam Bradford broke the NFL record for completions by a rookie QB on his way to winning Rookie of the Year. He’s thrown for 12’000 more yards and and 58 more TD’s. He’s also never been a back up, let alone failed to make an NFL team.

ROY…meh. His NCAA accomplishments weren’t even close to Tebo’s (not that it matters in the NFL). He’s never won a playoff game. Has he ever been to one? Has he played a full healthy season yet? You’re point is well made, but it’s not like Bradford has done anyone any favors in the NFL.

  6. Quota filler Sam Bradford, dwarf Chase Daniel and DII loser Carson Wentz and this new loser could not hoist Tebow’s jock as a unit! They would probably agree if you asked them!
