Anthony Davis says he’s sent reinstatement letter

Tackle Anthony Davis sent plenty of hints this offseason that he wants to return to the NFL after sitting out last season, but all of those hints didn’t add up to much unless he formally asked to be reinstated from the reserve/retired list.

Davis sent word on Twitter on Monday that he’s taken that step by sending word of his intention to resume his career to the 49ers and the NFL.

The 49ers control Davis’ rights, although one of his previous forays into social media sent the strong suggestion that Davis would prefer to be playing for another team. There were reports that the 49ers were shopping his rights in a trade earlier this offseason, but Davis said General Manager Trent Baalke told him that those reports weren’t true.

If they do hold onto Davis, offensive line coach Pat Flaherty said “nothing is going to be handed” to the 2010 first-round pick who started all 71 games he played for the 49ers before walking away last year.

  1. Love to see good guys make it back. On the other hand, it will be crazy to see Brady’s suspension extended when he gets caught violating his probation. But rightfully so.

  2. Can’t hurt the Niners O-Line… solely for the competition it will generate. But this guy seems to be a total tool… #stayofftwitter

  3. He already stated that Trent Balkee didn’t know what he was doing, the organization was in disarray, and he didn’t want to play for them. It wouldn’t surprise me that Santa Clara refuses to trade him and makes him play for them. This would rank right up there with all the great moves they have been making the last few years

  4. If he was serious he would have been at OAT’s working his fat butt off and not on social media sticking his foot in his mouth.

Look, man, I see that you’re on all Niners threads. I know you have a hate for them, and that’s cool. I’m not a Raiders hater, in fact, I enjoy watching them, with that said….your team hasn’t been to the playoffs since 2003. Worry about your team, bruh.

  6. Keep him until a team loses a tackle to injury & then trade him for whatever they can get.
