Leonard Floyd leaves Bears practice on a cart

Training camp practices are underway, which means reports of injuries suffered during training camp practices are also starting to buzz across social media.

One of the first is likely to have people in Bears country crossing their fingers. Multiple reporters at Bears practice on Thursday have shared the news that linebacker Leonard Floyd left practice on a cart.

There’s no word on what injury Floyd suffered or his condition. Coach John Fox will speak to the media after practice and the first-round pick’s status is sure to be a hot topic.

Floyd, the ninth overall pick, is slated for an outside linebacker spot on the Bears defense this season. He had 17 sacks during his career at Georgia and his pass rushing ability helped convince the Bears to trade up two spots to get him in April.

  1. Honestly as a Vikings fan, this is just ridiculously terrible luck. Potentially two years in a row? That’s just unfair.

  2. White wasted a year with full pay…….now possibly Floyd. So much for building from the draft.

  3. Calm down… this sucks, but we don’t know anything yet. And probably won’t know anything. Hopeful it’s simply a sprained ankle or something simple. Unless it’s a break or tear that needs surgery we won’t know anything and they’ll just say he’s “day-to-day”. (That in itself will piss off fans…but just stay calm until we know more)

  4. I was possibly in the minority in not expecting much out of Floyd this year, so while troubling for the young man, this is not a critical blow to the team. Anyone who predicted a deep playoff run was kidding themselves. If he is going to miss the season, this gives an opportunity to Roy Robertson-Harris to be a special teams player and depth chart guy. Physical freak at 6’7 and 260 lbs, and probably could play OLB and at DE in passing situations, like Young and Houston did last year.

He seems like a really solid kid, and was a good team player at Georgia. I feel badly for him as a young player, but it happens more frequently than one would expect.

But what it also does is make Houston and Young untouchable as far as trade prospects. If Floyd surprised and was a solid contributor, the Bears could have moved one of them, possibly to Dallas, where they don’t have any DE to start the season between injury and suspension.

Guys aren’t carted off the field for simple sprains. You presumed his injury much like we have.

  6. I had a bad feeling about this pick from the start.

If Fox says he’s day to day it means he’s out for the year.

  7. Wow. We talkin bout practice. Not a game, not a game, not a game…we talkin bout practice.

Feel bad for the guy – but if he can’t make it through the first practice, it’s not looking good for a 16 game schedule.

  8. I like how Pace says Jeffery needs to stay health. this guy sucks at drafting if neither of his first round picks can get on the field for being healthy

  9. He didn’t finish his workout at the combine, and he didn’t finish his workout at his pro day. At least he’s consistent!

    Nice work Ryan!

  10. I know Georia to be more humid and much hotter. Disoriented/ winded sounds off

  11. just a stomach bug… no worries. See calm fans are smart fans… now only if we can get everyone on the Jay Cutler for MVP train. LOL! #fansunite! #6
