Eifert: I’ll never go back to the Pro Bowl

AP

After a Pro Bowl injury led to surgery that’s left Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert on the physically unable to perform list for now and uncertain if he’ll be ready for the season opener, Eifert told reporters Friday that he’ll never go to the Pro Bowl again, even if he’s invited.

He sounded like he hoped someone at the NFL office is listening.

It’s just not worth it,” Eifert said.

Though his initial injury was deemed minor, Eifert later had ankle surgery and has missed the entire offseason program.

Eifert said Friday that he only expects to have to wear a protective boot on his ankle for another week, but he also said there’s no exact timetable for his return to real action and that his only goal is just to be healthy as soon as possible.

Eifert led all NFL tight ends with 13 touchdown catches last season despite missing games due to a concussion. An elbow injury limited him to one game in 2014.

As for the Pro Bowl, people watch. And recently signed contracts say the game* isn’t going away anytime soon.

  1. Eifert will never go again, I haven’t watched in years, and I’m sure the NFL misses neither of us so that’s ok.

  2. Good, that just makes more room for my Viking players! LOL!

Gronk is way better than this guy along with Scott Chandler.

New England churns out all the legendary tight ends.

    ——————————-

Aaron Hernandez is doing quite well isn’t he?

  4. Eifert has had trouble staying on the field even ignoring the Pro Bowl, he hasn’t played a full season yet and he missed nearly all of the 2014 season. So while it may be smart for him to avoid any unnecessary risk of injury, it’s not as if the Pro Bowl is the main reason for his injuries.

  5. It’s a good thing player safety is at the forefront of the decision to play this meaningless game. They might as well play 7 on 7 flag football.

  6. that asterisk next to the word game* looks just like the one next to all the patriots super bowl wins*!

  7. He misspoke, he meant to say“Eifert: I’ll never win a playoff game as a Bungal.”

  8. “New England churns out all the legendary tight ends.”

    John Mackey
    Dave Casper
    Shannon Sharpe
    Mike Ditka
    Ozzie Newsome
    Tony Gonzalez
    Kellen Winslow

All from New England, played their entire careers with the New England Patriots (or in the case of John Mackey, the Boston Patriots, as everyone knows), all graduated from Harvard or MIT, all the sons of haddock fishermen, as everyone knows. Especially Sharpe, wow, I remember that game when he played against the Broncos and called up the National Guard to do something or other.

I am going to suggest that some of the Patriots fans are not only delusional, which is frankly bad enough, but hallucinatory, and require tinctures and ointments, salves and vaccines.

  9. I wish they would take my advice and cancel the pro bowl and have an ESPY’s-Oscar type show that gives pro bowl (and other honors) to the players.

the “nominations” will come out late in the season w categories just like any award show.

(college has paid off, am i smart or what)

And you wonder why New England never sends anyone to the probowl….
    ********************************

Looked at all their trophies not one asterisk, step up your troll game with some new material.

  12. “New England churns out all the legendary tight ends.”

Wait, I understand that now. Legendary, as in, not real. Babe the Blue Ox played for the Pats, along with Santa Claus (sorry, Pats fans), the Easter Bunny (sorry again, Pats fans), God (sorry again, Pats fans), the Silver Surfer (sorry again, Pats fans) and Cerberus. Cerberus especially.

  13. The pro bowl should simply be a tag awarded to a player. That way you don’t get 48 subs being labeled as “pro bowlers”. No game. Football is too dangerous.

Name an AFC and NFC pro bowl team and be done with it. I still have visions of what happened to Robert Edwards when he was a rookie.

  14. No wonder the players barely make contact with other and don’t play hard.

    Time to end this farce.

At what point in their careers did Tony Gonzalez, Frank Bavaro, Jay Novacek, and Antonio Gates play for New England?

  16. Why don’t they just name an All-Pro team and give them a package of gifts… Call it a day. I’m tired of the real All-Pros either not being able to play or just skipping the event entirely. You can’t call the 5th QB option a pro bowler and pass that off to the fans… It’s a joke. The last time there was a real tackle Sean Taylor blew up the punter in 2006.

  17. I can’t stand any of the All-Star type games. It’s an exhibition and utter bore. Just pick players on a team as an honor and leave it at that.

  18. Probowl is a joke. Good for helping them negotiate contracts but beyond that it’s a farce of a game. Just opens up room for unneeded injures. Kind of similar to 4 PS games. 2 is good. 3 max. You know who 75%+ of your starters/players are going to be before the S even starts. Pointless.

Man Joe, are you still sore over the Palmer trade? You need to let go.

I’ll give you Gonzo and Gates but Novacek and Mark* Bavaro?

You could have at least went.. Winslow, Casper, Sharpe, Ditka, Mackey, Newsome, ect, ect..

Novacek was one of the great Cowboys but he’s no Jason Witten..
