Second-year Steelers cornerback Senquez Golson was carted off the practice field Monday.
After practice, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Golson suffered a mid-foot injury and that more will be known about the extent of the injury Monday night after team doctors examine Golson’s foot.
Golson, a second-round pick in 2015, missed his rookie season due to a shoulder injury. He’s been fighting for playing time in what’s both a crowded and open battle in the Steelers’ secondary. The Steelers are young at cornerback, and Golson is competing with 2016 first-rounder Artie Burns and 2015 fourth-rounder Doran Grant for snaps.
The Steelers decided before training camp last season that Golson should have shoulder surgery and focus on getting healthy for this season.
