Stephen Jones: Tony Romo isn’t overweight

A photo of Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo looking chunkier than usual made the rounds on the internet over the weekend and had some people wondering if he might have spent his time recovering from a broken collarbone by hooking himself up to an IV of liquid butter.

Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News took the photo in question and said it was a poor job of photography that gave the impression that Romo took on Jared Lorenzen as a fitness advisor. Other photos from camp bear that out, but questions about the quarterback’s fitness still made their way up the chain to executive vice president Stephen Jones on Monday.

“I think he’s in some of the best shape he’s been in,” Jones said. “Everybody can always get a picture taken of you that makes it look different than it is.”

Romo had a scheduled rest day on Sunday as the Cowboys, but will have his regularly padded body back on the field for Monday’s padded practice.
