Ravens waive Trent Richardson

If Trent Richardson still plans on eventually landing in Canton, his route there will no longer go through Baltimore.

The Ravens waived the No. 3 overall pick in the 2012 draft Tuesday. Richardson hasn’t been able to stay healthy and never stayed on the field long enough to sustain his latest comeback attempt.

Richardson signed with the Ravens in the offseason but missed some time due to a hamstring issue, then needed a knee scope. The early returns were good — Richardson reportedly lost 20 pounds — but he couldn’t avoid injuries long enough to make a real bid at winning a roster spot.

After scoring 11 touchdowns as a rookie with the Browns, Richardson was traded to the Colts early in the 2013 season. He averaged 3.0 yards per carry in 2013 and 3.3 in 2014 and was cut by the Raiders last summer.

  1. Was a bust overall but actually had a solid rookie season in Cleveland (1,300+ all purpose yds and 11 TDs). A shame things couldn’t work out for him.

  2. He talked a good talk where ever he went, but just coudn’t walk the walk. But, if he was smart he probably has enough money to live the rest of his life without working.

  3. It’s just conjecture, but it seems as though he just didn’t have the will to push through the work to get where he needed to be to play at that level and condition himself as to stay healthy.

  4. richardsons career is over. Time to retire.
One of the biggest busts in recent history.

  5. Time for the patriots to pick him up now and have their dimwit fans call it the greatest signing in the historyof football like they proclaimed Reggie Wayne to be.

AND Cleveland traded him for a 1st round pick. Everyone thought they were crazy.

  7. You people need to stop hatin’, Trent Richardson is totally going to Canton.

I hear the Canton Wal-Mart needs a new janitor, and Trent’s almost qualified to do that.

    ______________

I remember a pilled up Irsay thought he landed the deal of the century.
Getting taken by the Browns should make you lose your job.
Wait, daddy gave him the team. Nevermind.

  9. Too bad the Browns didn’t do squat with the draft choices they got for unloading him to the Colts.. But then, it’s the Browns we are talking about here. Even when they do the smart thing, they still find a way to screw it up.

  10. TRichardson will not be selling programs or working as a janitor. He’s made/stole about 22 mil in his career. No need to project your lives onto him.

Patriots fans weren’t excited about signing RWayne off the scrap heap. I don’t remember one. He didn’t want to pay the price to be a Patriot. It was guys like RMoss, WWelker, CDillon and RHarrison you must be thinking of.

AND with that pick they packaged to move up and daft……Johnny Manziel…..and everyone thought they were crazy again.

  12. Another Bama bust. It’s hard to run when you don’t have gigantic holes to run through and have superior coaching.

  13. Finally he and Rolando can kick back for a nice relaxing purple drank session in Alabama without the NFL getting in the way.

  14. It used to be a 4-way tie: J. Russell, T. Mandarich, R. Mirer and R. Leaf for the biggest draft busts, like, ever.

Richardson’s now tied with R.Mirer for the biggest draft bust ever.

My thinking: Russell, Mandarich and Leaf were not traded to another unsuspecting team for a first round pick.

    R. Mirer: Bears for a first rounder.

    T. Richardson: Well, we all know how that went for the Colts.

The clear winner here: Mirer knew he didn’t have what it takes. Richardson feeds himself on the pablum he generates.

All due respect to Russell, Mandarich, Leaf and Mirer, but.

TR is clearly the biggest draft bust ever.

Trent Richardson was stuffed by the door jam for a 1 Yard loss on his way out of the Ravens facility

REPORT: While cleaning out his Ravens locker, it took Trent Richardson 17 attempts to carry his stuff 25 yards to the parking lot

Wow… Solid props to both of you. I was chuckling for like 5 minutes over those comments. If the Onion is hiring, send in those comments with your resumes!

You must have forgotten what Cleveland gave up to move up in the draft to get him, huh?
Even with a 1st rounder…..the Browns got hosed.

  17. Once the NFL stopped letting him use his helmet as a battering ram he really had no other way to gain positive yards.

Strange that we had to have a Trent Richardson rule.
