In the world of preseason depth charts, having co-starters keeps the public relations staff from having to make anyone mad.
So in Jacksonville, they have a pair of left tackles (which may mean they have none).
The team’s “official” first depth chart listed former No. 2 overall pick Luke Joeckel and Kelvin Beachum as co-starters at left tackle.
Of course, Beachum has barely practiced while coming back from last year’s torn ACL, so he hasn’t earned the position yet. And Joeckel has taken part of his work at left guard in training camp, which is probably where he’ll land if Beachum wins the job later.
The Jaguars also used the co-starter device at running back (Chris Ivory and T.J. Yeldon) and cornerback (Prince Amukamara and Jalen Ramsey).
