New England Patriots fourth-round pick Malcolm Mitchell made an abrupt exit from Thursday night’s preseason opener against the New Orleans Saints.

After securing his fourth catch of the night, Mitchell’s left arm bent in a way it should not. He quickly was escorted to the locker room for further evaluation.

According to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald, Mitchell suffered a dislocated elbow on the play. The initial timeline on the injury suggests that Mitchell could return from the injury in approximately four weeks.

Mitchell gained 55 yards on his four catches against the Saints in a noteworthy debut. A four-week prognosis could give the Patriots the flexibility to keep Mitchell on the roster and not make a move to injured reserve since he’ll be back in a month.

  1. Hope he recovers that quick ,But Tyler eifert had that same injury too years ago and was done for the year ,Hopefully this young man heels quicker .

  2. That was ugly. Felt bad for the kid, he was going on a tear when it happened.
He’s been pretty good at the camp practices I’ve seen and look forward to him getting drives started in the future.

  3. This kid is a stud. Goodell can rob the Pats as much as he wants, but if Belichick keeps finding players like this in the forth round of the draft, Mr. “integrity” and his filthy band of former Jet executives that run the NFL wont be able to stop the Pats.

Waiting for the excuses to come….. looks like a 0-4 start

And we’re waiting for an intelligent post from a non Pats fan on a Pats thread.

You expect excuses after a pre season win? Is that what you typed? Really?

The kid has looked good but the fact is he’s probably 4th or 5th on the depth chart at WR. I dont think his injury is going to effect the season much as unfortunate as it is for him personally
